Hey guys,
I have feel in love with the s2000 but unfortunately my situation right now only allows me to have one car. I honestly do not give a damn about ride comfort or any of that but I do want to know if people have been able to do this before. Please share your experiences and let me know if I'm completely insane. Thanks.

 

Quite a few people on this site have a S as their only vehicle.

Yes, some people do it.

Though you'd be a bit of potato to do so without secure/covered parking, in the rust belt or if you work in a theft prone area (IMO).

 

As mentioned above, it certainly is possible.

Reasonable, I would have to say NO unless it is an S that has higher mileage or was modified and brought back close to original or heck even left modified.

I don't think you would be wise to spend "market price" on a nice S and drive it daily, it would lose value much quicker.

But if you have the money to do so and you would be happy doing it then by all means make yourself happy.

 

There's nothing wrong with using the S2000 as your only car.

Except if you need a car that transports more than 2 people and 5.5cu ft. of cargo

 

I did it for four years. It was pretty awesome, except in the winter. I couldn't afford a second car, so I chose to have the S as an only car rather than go without. Get good snow tires on second rims if applicable, otherwise it's really no problem.

 

I did it. Like Chris Stack I had another set of 16" OEM wheels that I mounted with snow tires in smaller S2k snow tire specs. I never got stuck but it was cold. Eventually a hardtop resolved that issue. I park outdoors at work however I have a dedicated secure parking spot. At home it goes in the garage. You also need a good alarm system. You can daily drive an S but you need to be prepared for it.

 

I live in Norcal, no snow here. The S2000 has been a daily driver since new 10/03. 04 AP2 here.
It's not for the mpg, or the trunk space that i use it daily, but for the fun. I can do a Costo run and fill the trunk and the passenger seat, I can transport one person who can maneuver in and out of a low car, on two occasions i have taken my 60lb dog places. It's a great all around car, now that being said I also have a sedan for those times with I want to go to home depo or carry a few folks, but 98% of the time the S is a good all around car. There are cheaper fun cars (used miata, or gti or etc), there are cars with better mpg, I get 22 combined and 28 on trips. there for more comfy cars for trips and commutes and even city driving. there are more powerful cars that sell for less used.

the S2000 has a practical side and a fun side and as far as a roadster goes, and that's why I have it, it's just plain great.

 

I will agree 100%, there is nothing wrong with an S as your daily or your only car.

If you are looking at keeping most of its value(depending on which part of North America you live in), it would be wise to keep a as a second car. Just my LOONIE!

 

I used my S as a daily for a year. I loved it. I looked forward to driving to work every morning. I would even take longer route to get home after work so I could drive it more.

Then I got another car for daily so I can drive the S on the weekends. However, I still take the S to work 2 days out of the week.
