Default Daily Driving

I know many of you use your s2k for a daily driver, as do I (for now). And I was wondering how high you rev your engine as you pass through the gears. I'm mainly concerned that in my attempts to preserve the car and my gas mileage I might end up straining the engine or something but keeping the rpm's too low.

So, when should I shift to treat my S as nicely as possible?

P.S. I've been averaging 25 mpg with my best around 28.

I don't beat on mine, mostly shift right at 5,500.. right before vtec, in at least first three to fourth gear. I get close to 250 miles per tank, only city.

I shift at about 3k, and get good gas mileage (high 20s)
But don't listen to me, I know squat about auto mechanics.

I drive mine pretty aggressive and im at 216 on this tank with about 4 lines left on the gas bar. I hope my car can take the way I drive it and still hold up, just broke 55k miles on my 2001

def higher than 3k. My trans doesnt operate smoothley at that rpm shift. 4.5-5k seem to be butter and will probably save that synchro bounce.

There seems to be no real be all end all technique... I recommend trying many and seeing what works best for you.
My car: 2001 with intake, header, HFC, and exhaust, and 113k miles

My Technique while accelerating normally: I start shifting at 4k and as i decrease my rate of acceleration getting closer to my cruise speed I start lowering the shift point by feel until I am cruising at just below 3k

this is the technique that gets me the best mileage with mixed driving and my driving style. I get 23-26 MPG depending on how much hwy vs city driving and also depending on how much I beat on the car.

I agree on 4-6. But I've also got 4.77s, largely ignore 6th gear, and am lucky to get 22mpg. Case in point that your results may vary.

Same shift points are listed for the ap2..
It puts the shifts in the 3-4k range.
