Daily Driving
#22
Daily driver for 5 years.
If I'm driving normally, I tend to shift just as I hear the vtec engagement.
If I'm driving spiritedly, I shift just before redline.
When I drove from Atlanta to Torrance and back for HomeComing II last year, I averaged 26.2 miles per gallon for the trip.

It is more important to make sure that the car is maintained opposed to worrying about shift patterns. Of course, I hate blanket statements too, but in general just drive it the way you want, without beating the snot out of it and you'll be fine.
The car isn't fragile. Honda's recommended shift patterns noted above are for optimal fuel economy.
My shift patterns are completely random based on traffic patterns and situations, the last thing I worry about is where I am shifting it. Enjoy your S and don't worry about it as long as it has fresh fluids.
If you want to worry about your sports car, go buy a Boxster.

C'mon guys, the S2000 is meant to be driven. It's a waste of a very special car we have to just drive it normally all day.
Granted, in traffic you should be prudent but when the opportunity comes you should drive it like it was designed. Visit V-tec as often as possible. I'll admit it took me a while to get used to the high revs required for spirited driving. I didn't want to break anything.
Good news it won't!
It's my DD, summer & winter and each day is a blast to drive it !
