Default Dark Spot on Arm Rest

I have a 2001 Silver/Red. The arm rest on the driver side door (where my arm goes ) is getting this darkened, sorta-black spot right where my elbow rests. Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know how to clean it? Regular Armor All cleaner or protectant, which I normally use to clean the interior, doesn't do anything.

Oh, I guess this could also go under Interior cleaning issues:

I'd like to install a cell-phone holder on the dash, because its impossible to reach into my pocket with the bucket seats while driving, and its dangerous to do so. I picked up this magnetic cell phone holder that sticks on to your dash...does anyone know if its not good to stick that on to your dash?

The guy who sold me the product said to add a drop of super glue to the back of the holder and stick on the dash, and it'll come off without a problem whenever I want to take it off...but hey, he's a salesguy. I'm concerned that the glue might eat away at the dash over time or otherwise harm it.

Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't use Superglue unless you never expect to take it off. Superglue works by polymerization and will link the molecules of the dash to those of what you're sticking to it. When you yank it off, it will either peel the first layer of the dash off or leave a patch that is a different color and texture behind. A less dangerous (but NOT fully guaranteed) method is to use sticky Velcro strips. However, the adhesive on the Velcro is not one that sticks to our dash material too strongly. I have my Startac attached in the following way:
The "loop" side of the Velcro, I have on the phone so it doesn't grab things that it touches (like the material in your pocket).
The "hook" side of the Velcro, I remove the peel off backing and use heavy duty double sided carpet tape on it. Then I "mate" this Velcro part onto the phone Velcro, remove the other peel off backing from the carpet tape and stick it onto the dash. The carpet tape is far more sticky than the Velcro. Make sure you clean that part of the dash with alcohol (the phone too) and you've test fitted the phone so you know exactly where to stick it. Mine is just to the right of the heater controls and I run the earphone wire along the crease between the control bezel and the dash material. The wire and earphone just lays on the console in front of the stereo door.

Just a little clarification:

The salesguy told me to add just *one drop* of superglue to the adhesive already on the cell phone holder. He said it would help it stick in warm weather climates (San Diego summer).

Would the adhesive on carpet tape be any different from the adhesive already on the back of the holder? Should I just use the holder without the superglue?

Nobody has any ideas for the dark spot growing on my arm rest?

I had that factory Leather Treatment thing done when I bought the car. Maybe I can get them to take care of it...

Sorry for the huge image size.

The first picture is just to show the location and size of the spot to scale.

The second and third give better looks at it. The white spot in the third picture is just a trick of the light. Might be a reflection off my glasses.

Okay, so it isn't really all *that* dark, but I've already had two passengers point it out, and *I* know its there, so it bugs me.

Anyone have any ideas on removing it?

I'd use Meguiars Gold Class Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. It managed to get the spot off my center console armrest, see if it works for the vinyl on the door.
