The day you bought your first (or current S)
Great thread! can a Moderator make it into a sticky?
my story is similar to most.
i had a 2000 Sk2 several years ago in chicago, and I loved it, but it was my 4th car. paid outright. but moved to Kansas, and couldn't move all 4 cars, so the S2000 got the axe
ive had a few convertibles since (08 Nissan 350Z, etc) but that was heavy, and didn't drive and handle as well...
well, now I've moved to Texas, and since sold my 350z convertible. had too many cars, but no convertible. local chevy dealer said they had one in Houston Honda dealer, 07 with decent miles (42k) totally stock, so i jumped on it and traded a car in for it.
so had the car shipped to my dealer, made the deal, and have been enjoying driving it (mostly top down) whenever i can.
I can't explain how good it feels, after a 12 hour shift at work where you get your a** handed to you, to drive home at 7pm, when sun is going down, temp is around 75 degrees, and top down....all the worries just melts away. GREAT, GREAT car

well i'm new to the s2k world so I can you my take. I bought the car last Saturday and ever since I can't stop loving every minute of the car. The first time I cruised with the top down was one of the best car experiences i've had.
my story starts as this, In July of 2012(im only 15 at the time) My uncle comes over to my house in his car ( 2002 Silverstone s2000) and offers to take me for a ride, so we cruise top down along the gulf coast and i instantly love the car, we return home and he goes back to his place, about a month later he buys a 2013 subaru Impreza wrx and says the the s2000 is for sale( my parents wernt spending 12k on my first car) so with my birth day a week later i get a text from my uncle asking if id come over on my birthday( he lives about 45minutes from my house) so Its October 21st the day of my birthday, my mom, dad and I head out to my uncles house and pick up my gf on the way, and we arrive at his house and i see that beautiful s2k in the driveway freshly washed, we go inside and talk and then my uncle ask me to come out side, so i do and then my family follows, he then shakes my hand and hands me the keys to his car saying" its all yours now buddy take care of her and she'll take care of you" and that drive home i had a smile ear to ear and have love every second with this car and love being apart of the s2k community

Proud owner of a 2009 Rio Yellow Pearl from Phoenix with 31K. Last May in 2012, drove it home to Sacramento (El Dorado Hills) via Las Vegas, Mono Lake, and HWY`108- the Sonora Pass. Was smiling for two days, best drive of my 56 years. Had the entire east side to myself, hairpin turns with switchbacks, no guardrails, 75 degrees with the top down, and spectacular scenery. Car had one owner, well maintained and clean. Being in the southwest; no corrosion or salt oxidation.
Since then I have taken my car and wife all over northern California: Hwy1 from Westport to Cambria, Panoramic Hwy, Sonoma and Napa county, and all part in between. Some of these roads here were invented for this car. Sometimes I get the same sensation as I do skiing downhill; back and forth. Now it has 38K on it. All stock. I like to just sit in the garage looking at the thing.

The story for my current S starts off like so: I had purchased a 2010 Mazdaspeed3 in February of '12 after deciding my Civic Si was extremely lame. The MS3 was a great car for what it was. Torque, reliability, good quality, handled excellent (for a FWD, that is), and was very practical. But something was missing, something I knew I wouldn't have unless I had another S2000. A few months go by and I'm still loving the MS3 and ignoring that "missing" feeling. My gf had recently purchased her own S2000 after I bought my Mazda. I had told her how that was my favorite car in the world and I used to own one and how much I loved that car. More months go by and I finally couldn't stand it anymore. I needed another S2000.
Fast foward to last month: After much searching, we ended up getting an '07 NFR on trade at the dealership I work for. I knew I had to have it. The only issue was, employess have to wait 31 days to buy a used car at our employee discount. So there the car sat, taunting me. A few potential buyers came in and looked it over. It was almost sold the 2nd day on the lot, but the customer's credit fell through. On the 28th day, the Used car sales manager called me and said I've waited long enough and I could purchase it early. I sprinted to my car and went to the dealership to pick it up.
It feels amazing to be back in this car again. The gf and I love our S's, and now she'll stop making fun of me for driving a "minivan".

Great thread idea Jeff! And great choice of year and color too.
I had always wanted a sports car, and always liked small, light cars with high-revving engines. When I graduated college last May, I was planning on saving up for 6 to 12 months before buying my very first sports car. At the time I was driving a '99 Integra GS-R with around 135k miles. I had been looking at S2000's for a couple years so I knew how much they would cost. The first car I test drove was a 350z. It was fun, but felt way too heavy for my liking. The next day I test drove an S2000. It felt "right". There was no sense in looking at anything else. That was in late May.
Fast forward about a week and I was browsing the classifieds as usual, when I ran across an '04 Rio with just 27k miles. It was immaculate, always garaged, and the price was right. Although it was much earlier than I wanted (wanted to have a bigger down payment), I made the hour-long drive to test drive the car. The owner had it sitting in the driveway so I could see it as soon as I pulled in. When I saw it, I knew it was the one. Getting in and driving it only confirmed that. I had seen many S2000's, but there was just something about this one that spoke to me.
Here's where the story gets interesting.
I made a deal with the owner that night. I went by the bank the next day and got approved for the loan. This was a Friday. The owner was leaving on Monday for a 1.5 week vacation, and I couldn't get the check from the bank until early the next week. I had to wait.
The owner had bought the car for his wife after she was diagnosed with cancer and given 6 months to live. She had always wanted a 2-seater convertible, so he surprised her with it one day after her diagnosis. She had passed about a year before I bought the car, and he was selling it because it was never being driven. Both his and her name were on the title. I had to jump through quite a few hoops, but ultimately found out that I would need a copy of her death certificate to switch the title over. Asking him for his recently departed wife's death certificate was tough.
All in all it took 2 weeks and a bunch of work from the time I first drove the car until the day it was mine. 11 months and 9k miles later and I couldn't be more happy. This was the car for me, and I can't imagine driving anything else. The history behind this car makes it all the more special to me.
