Anyone install daytime running lights? Do other (non-US) countries have running lights on the S2000?

Realize we can turn on parking lights but running lights would be brighter. Thanks.

I've rigged up some relays so the front turn signals are (amber) daytime running lights. They are 20W bulbs rather than the 5W parking light bulbs. The 5W bulbs are barely noticable when the sun is out (and you don't have to readjust the dash brightness every time); and most of all I think the amber lights look way cool on a black car. The running lights are set up so they come on whenever the parking/head lights aren't ON and the parking brake is not set. The only problem is that the turn signals blink fast as if a bulb is burned out.

By law Swedish cars always run with the headlights on. The light switch is wired to be ON/Parking lights/ON-with-instrument-lights rather than OFF/Parking lights/ON. Soon as you turn the key your lights are on. Really improves safety in traffic. Perhaps it's possible to rewire US and other cars accordingly.

i usually drive with my parking lights on... pain in the rear to always have to push the button to make the dash lights brighter. i also think that the black car looks better with parking lights on.

From my manual (page 42): "Adjust the brightness to the desired level with the headlight switch off, and also with the headlight switch on. Both settings will remain at those levels until you change them."

That works for me.

What they are refering to is when you turn on your parking lights, the dash dims to the "head light ON" level (much too dark for daytime use), but you have to push and hold the "+" button to return the dash to the "head light OFF" level.

I found that to be a pain, thus the automatic daytime running lights.

But then your dash is really bright at night.

Where are the running lights located on the Canadian stooks?

Also, if 20w bulb put in parking lights as suggested can the car be wired so that the light is on whenever ignition is on (ie. both during daylight, as a running light, and at night, as a bright parking light). Thanks.

I believe that the running lights on the Canadian S2K is just the high beams at a reduced wattage. There is only 2 lamps in it and it's not the HID's. because they are automatic, we don't have to futz with the dash control.
