Default Daytime Running Lights

This is not going to be the most important question in the world, but when (if ever) do you guys use your day time running lights?

I just drive with my headlights on, regardless if I drive a car with DRL or not. I find them pointless if you just make it a habit to drive with your headlights on, IMHO.

all the time when you aren't using your headlights.

In our country you are taking a big risk not using drls because everyone else does and your car easily disappears in a sea of lights. My car was a US import before I got some drls working on it people were cutting me off and pulling out in front of me all the time. As soon as I got a system working it seems to be much safer, it is likely worse because my car is silver and less noticeable than other colours. I'm a big believer in drls.

11% reduction in accidents base solely on DRLS

They're selling them as 'safety' features they throw in for 'free' on new models.

Pardon my ignorance on DRLs, but don't they come on automatically with the start of the engine?

If a car is equipped with day time running lights they are on all the time. Some cars you have to option to turn them off but most you can't. I agree with everyone, keep your lights on when driving.

They turn on when you release the parking brake.

Turn off when you turn on your full headlights.
