Actually your factually wrong.
You have to declaire the true value of a packages contents for customs as was the case here.
Also if I never get your product because you shipped via your girlfiends cousins courier service and he died well you failed to do what we agreed upon which is deliver the product to me NOT my door.
My door has no idea what to do with a delivery only I do.
If the shipper doesn't want to take resposiblity for shipping the product then make the customer come out and pick it up. If you ship you you've assumed that resposibility.

Again, these are USED products and US CUSTOMS doesn't require you to list the original values, ANYBODY that's used UPS before would know this.
I accepted full responsibility when I asked the seller to mark the values lower to avoid ridiculous UPS handling fees. Being a responsible buyer I also made sure it goes to an address that will have someone to sign for it for me. Not to mention I only use UPS if all avenue are shut.
Hope you guys will resolve this soon. It's turning into an ugly mess. I'm not going to say who's right or who's wrong as many have mentioned as by standers we do not have all the facts.

So what if its UPS? He shipped it he assuemed that UPS were reliable enough to get the package there FOR HIM and they didn't. He has a litgitamate grevence with UPS but the reciever of the package doesn't because they (UPS) where not acting on behalf of the buyer but the seller.
If your actually read the post you'd know this went through customs and this isn't an oldsmobile commercial.
When you ship something your hiring a company to delver something on your behalf period. You can't expect the company to act on the behalf of the receiver.
Anyone that lies about the value when shipping items out of the country is violating the law.
Anyone that shipps something without fully insuring it is assuming risk.
never give anyone the option of saving a buck by not issureing the package for the full amount. Since only the shipper can take out the insurance they bare the resposibility.

As soon as I hear from Dickson, Ben, or midnightsuns I will close this thread. Even though I think there is something to learn from almost everyone who has posted here it all boils down to those 3 I just mentioned.
In the FS forum, are there recommended buyer guidelines posted anywhere?
Like to request insurance from the seller, use a credit card when possible, etc.
Much of these problems can be easily avoided...

Common sense, just insure what you send for what it's worth and work that price into the sale.
Didn't know you didn't have todeclair the price the product was worth if it's used?
No one would be bitching, moaning, and complaining about it now if they just did it the right way from the start.
If you do this then you won't ever have a problem!

wow this is funny I saved all the pms between myself and DC_AP1 and I forgot all about the one where I asked him if the package was insured... you'll love this one if it doesn't post correctly then I'll upload it later today or if a mod can post like a link for everyone to get to then it would be greatly appreciated. IT IS THE SELLERS DUTY TO MAKE SURE THAT AN ITEM GETS TO THE CUSTOMER IN SAFETY. ITS CALLED "CUSTOMER SERVICE"
I DONT WANNA HAVE TO BE THE ONE TO ASK QUESTIONS TO "MAKE SURE" MY ITEM IS "GOING TO BE SAFE".... ESPECIALLY A 1800.00 ITEM AT THAT.
THAT SHOULD BE UNDERSTOOD. ANYONE WHO DOES BUSINESS WOULD KNOW THAT. THATS JUST REALLY CHEAP AND HORRID.
I WOULD OPEN UP A CAN IF I WAS MIDNIGHT.....
