i'm actually going to conciously try to use my dead pedal after reading the lovefest above

for some reason my size 13 Adidas (or loafers if im heading to the office) never seem comfortable on that thing...just cant find the sweet spot so my foot nevers rests. It just ends up on floor. Hovering over clutch is recipe for a $$ visit to local mechanic.

i'll try on tomorrow's commute and report back

i always use the dead pedal because the drivers in best motoring use it too. their feet only come off the pedal when they shift and both hands stay on the wheel until they need to use the shifter. they're my heroes.

OK, i found that I DO use it. My foot is just 1/2 on dead pedal and 1/2 on carpet. Very usefull and I feel all auto/truck should have one... even automatics.

I've always rested my foot on the dead pedal.

During hard braking it allows you better control of your right foot because your left foot's pressure on the dead pedal is helping keep you in the seat. Keeps you from sliding forward and relying on the seat belt to hold you in which can be uncomfortable. Try it.

Slightly off topic, but does a metal dead pedal (ex. Mingster's, which matches the clutch, brake and accel) serve any useful purpose? Or is it simply a "looks" piece?
