Default Dealer Installed Auto Security

I'm picking up my new '06 S2000 later this month. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Honda installed Auto Security and also their Theft Deterrent. Are they worth it or is it better to get an aftermarket one. Also, if you recommend an aftermarket one, which one? By the way, the dealer told me that if i choose an aftermarket one that requires any wires to be spliced that I would be forfeiting the electrical portion of my warranty. Thanks for your help / info.

The only unfortunate thing about the factory security system is there is no proximity sensor and no motion sensor. Why is this a problem??? If someone were to cut your top and unlock and open your door from the inside.....you will never know as your factory alarm will not go off........ I am speaking from experience on this, unfortunately!!! If you had a motion sensor, this would make the alarm go off. if you had a proximity sensor, it would warn intruders if they got too close and then go off it they penetrated your vehicle. I have never heard of a dealership not warranting a car of electrical failure due to an aftermarket alarm. They would have to prove that to be the problem or cause of anything else before stating that.....I personally think the factory alarm is worthless other than the fact it is OEM.

I have an Avital alarm system with proximity and motion sensors. It seems to work really well. It will warn anything twice before setting off the alarms system. If anyone gets too close it will have a sequence of 6 beeps to warn them off, and repeat 30 seconds later if still around. Anything made or marketed by DEI (Directed Electronics Inc.) will be just fine which includes ALOT of name brands. As always go with what you like, make sure you atleast get a basic alarm that has atleast 2 or 3 extra outputs so you can add stuff later like remote start, window modules, top module, rain sensor, etc. It will be cheaper in the long run so you wont have to buy another system later.....hope this helps ya!!

A thought would be to see how much hardtopguy and handa acc. are selling the alarm and if it's cheaper to be bought from them. Just a thought, I saw the directions, looked like an easy install as everything just plugs up.
