ap2 owners love to say "8200."
thats because us ap1s have "9200" but everyone refers it to 9000.
actually, smarty, i hate to burst your bubble....

the AP1 only revs to 8900 rpms

not 9000 or 9200 as you said. Look it up

Well, if you think this is the biggest difference, you're already lost.

There are over 150 changes between the AP1 and AP2, and the redline is just one of them. The biggest difference imo is suspension and gearing.

Fix what? Its not broken.

You want to drag race, I don't think the S is really the car for you. Yes, you can drag it, but I'd want a torque monster for drag racing. Maybe a 350Z.

This I think is more of an AP1 concern. AP2s have different gearing that helps with the sub-vtec power.
Anyone who isn't sold on the character of the early cars, and can afford an AP2, would be happier with an AP2.

More like 8,950, but who's counting.

What are you going by, hondas claim? In the real world a stock ap1 makes about 20tq less below vtec than the ap2 does. The difference isn't as great in vtec the higher you rev, but thats not what we're talking about.

I had ap1, but i also prefer ap2

I like its torque, shifting, exterior, and interior.

If you can afford ap2, then you should get ap2.

AP1 is raw, but AP2 is refined.

Thanks to everyone for all the responses. With all this I have something to think about. I may just go out to our Honda dealership and see what they got.

Thanks!

If you haven't driven either yet, I'd say that should be the first step. Everyone on here will have a different opinion. Drive them both. They're both great cars. However if you're looking to drag race, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

And for the record, I had an 02, and traded for a 07. Loved them both.
