Decisions.....decisions
My mind is made up....it's the S2K.
The Boxster is mid engine and you can't even access it with out totally taking the back apart or take it to the shop.
When talking to the Porche dealer it was explained to me that the car was made to be "maintenance free" Which in review the Boxster does have a reliable history.
To sum it all up......
Boxster S.......It's a Porsche.......but it aint no GT2
S2K.........It's a Honda.......but a damn good looking one (fast too)....I'll take it!!!!!

now that's a funny one!the car was designed to be a annuity for the dealers in the form of horrific reliability and next to zero DIY maintenance.
No don't get the Porsche. A Boxter is the silk panties of the Porsche line, great for a female or for someone who has to have the Porsche name but cannot afford a real one.S2000 all the way

Nice thing about the Boxster is its clean roof opening action (although slower than the S2k of course) and double trunks for more storage space.
You can get Boxsters with navigation, automatic, PSM, seat heating, and more seat adjustments if that matters to you.
Also you'll have to remember to stick the ignition key in on the left side. Well, I suppose you have to use your left hand to start the S2k, too.

MMM, the boxer isn't a bad car. It has a nicer interior for example.
The S2k has a better reliability record and costs a fraction for maintenance.
Take into the account the insurance on anything with a porche label and the fact that s2k can match it in performance, the only reason left to buy a the boxter is for the interior.... I drive my car, not live in it.

I stopped into the Porsche dealer a few weeks ago. Sat in the Boxster (not an "S") in the showroom. Sticker price was over $50k. I told the guy "Boy, this is a nice car. I really like it. I'm also shopping a Honda S2000. As much as I like this Porsche, it's hard to justify the extra $20k." He gave me a disdainful look and said to me in a know-it-all voice "It's a totally different animal. This car is a substantial machine. If you don't want to spend that much, perhaps you'd like to look at the Audi TT. Do you know what that is". The dealership sells Audi too.
Needless to say, I was a little (a lot) insulted. I realize he was boosting his own product, but his tone made it sound like I just wanted a little convertible and didn't know my ass. I bit my tongue, and just said "I don't see myself in a TT". I wanted to say "Listen, Dick. Yes, I know what a TT is and it won't hold a candle to the Boxster S and the S2000 when considering performance. And by the way, the S2000 has it all over this plain Jane Boxster. It's a damn disgrace that the standard Boxster is $20k more than an S2000, and the comparable Boxster S is about twice the money."
Anyway, I like the Honda styling better and I like the superbike engine feel. It makes the S2000 different than most anything else. And although some say the Boxster has the nicer interior, I prefer the simplicity of the S2000.
I'll confess that I am a car snob though -- I wish the S2000 wasn't a mere "Honda". Even though the "just a Honda" comments all come from idiots, I must admit that they still bother me. Deep down though, I know it's the better car.
So I vote for the new S2k with warranty. No question.
