Definitive S2000 CR Thread
... I've long sold my AP1 but stumbled across this thread when looking for some information. I miss the car sometimes, but it [S2000 CR] would have to be a major improvment for me to consider it.
to all the oldies, nice to see some of you still here.

Some of the speculations on here are ridiculous. The way BC keeps talking about how expensive/exclusive it's going to be, I will be looking for serious weight reduction and handling/braking upgrades. The brakes on the AP2 can easily be improved. Why do you think there are so many BBKs for our cars? True front brake ducts are in order, along with drilled/slotted rotors and SS brake lines. Also, the car needs to come down about 1/2 inch in front and 1 inch in the rear. Lightweight wheels are a must. I've heard lots of mixed reviews about the way the tach/speedo are laid out. I prefer analog guages to the digital arc and number readout. The cupholder needs to go! AP1 cupholders are in the most retarded spot possible. A McDonalds cup with a straw in it greatly interferes with your shifting ability. Bumpsteer is an issue that could be fixed. The list goes on. Personally, I'd rather do all these things myself and have some fun working on my car. I only paid a little over $20k for a MY00 with 25k miles. With $18,000 worth of mods, my car would SMOKE the CR in the 0-60, 1/4 mile, auto-X, road courses, circle tracks, freeways, you name it. No way would I pay that much extra to have Honda keep my radio and A/C and install a hard top for me.

"oh well its has this many goodies but wait no AC? umm what are they thinking...No radio? ummm okay?..is there anymore useful installments there going to remove since they are so desperate to cut some weights"
the good news is yeah you can get it from the factory
bad new they will charge double then what it would normaly cost
Hence, just stick to a s2000 '07
and mod it

I like how you compare an 8 year old car to a new one in terms of price. I guess things like warranty and reliability of a new car just go out the window. I guess we should all buy used cars and mod them to beat the latest and greatest stuff out there.A lot of Type-R style products from Honda exemplify the word "synergy" as in the whole is more than the sum of the parts. Little changes here and there, as in the case of the ITR but the end product should be a heck of machine. If its not your cup of tea, then don't buy it. But don't try to make excuses as to what you would do to your 8 yr old AP1 that would apparently make the CR redundant. I'm sure that you can enhance your cars handling and other dynamic attributes to a certain extent, but I have a *slight* feeling that the guys who built the car could do a heck of a lot better while giving us a more in a reliable, track tested package
Furthermore, these cars are designed with MORE than raw numbers in mind. Its about a visceral experience that only few cars can provide. For example, many modern day supercars put down staggering stats, but talk to a exotic car owner, and many will say that nothing quite offers the unalderated driving experience of an F40, though it might be hair slower here and there. I venture to say that this CR spec S2000 will be a blast to drive.
The car uses a digital tach and cluster for a reason. It provides the driver with an easy to read/discern readout of rpms and speed. Hence the reason it is also used in Honda's F1 cars. Progress is progress and progress means change - if you don't like digital gauges then thats tough.
Here is todays Riddle:
If you put 2 CR's next to each other, they may look the same, but they might act differently.

PS: Since we are on page 15 now, everything I said so far, can be changed. Honda likes to pull last min changes, so things can shifted here and there. But this is to the best of my understanding. Keep that in mind. Thanks.
