Development of the S2000 clutch
I have now read 7 or 8 old threads about clutch wear and both factory and aftermarket improvements. Has anyone done a study on Honda's upgrades to the factory supplied oem clutch and when they were made? One thread says the 02 clutch had the "improvements" that Honda developed in response to problems with the 00 and 01 cars. Does anyone know how many improvements and what was improved? Another thread suggested that problems continued into 2002. Does anyone know why?
I also read a number of threads discussing which aftermarket clutch to buy. These were helpful to become familiar with the names of some of the suppliers, but I didn't see any discussion about the difference in design or specifications as compared to stock. Did I miss a thread, is there an web site that has this info, or does someone know the difference?
I notice that if I don't do a complete throttle lift between shifts, I get a little engine racing after I engage the next gear. I'm trying to re-train my right foot, but I am already preparing myself for a possible clutch replacement since my '02 only has 250 miles on it. What will Vtec, power shifts, and drop clutch launches do??? Sorry if this is old news for some of you, but I did try to find the answer in the old threads.
