Did 8k kill the S2000
The S had a trump card at the start of production here in the US ...it was the only piston car that hit 9k ...then after the rpm was lowered sales dropped and did so until the end . If Honda never "redid" this to increase sales in the us , would the S still be with us today ??...my answer is yes ...we should have had a choice to buy the euro version here , things may have been way different ..imo ...HONDA NEVER SHOULD HAVE LOST THE TRUMP CARD THE CAR HAD TO START WITH ...9K ..IS THE S2000 !!!

Don't know if 8k was the deal breaker... they might have tried to become more of everything to everyone... Engine change for more torque (it's not a Chevy v8), VSA for control (it's not a minivan), trying to appeal to more when the vehicle is purpose built... I'm just reaching, but who knows.
