OK, so I stayed for the first 200 miles below 4k and then up to 5k to 400 miles and then 5.5k to 600 miles & tried to keep it mostly gentle stop-go city driving. I can't tell you how frustrating its been!!!

Anyway, now I've got 600 miles on her and starting to open it up what else is there to say but WOW. This is a truly manik driving experience. I just love it. The car talks to me so much more than any other I've owned.

I have learned much more respect for cornering forces already since I can feel every little bit; moist patches, painted lines, dirt in the steering wheel or sotp. On our local track (which is WIDE) I've had the car in nice 4-wheel slides wo. any drama. I enjoy the balance of the car and IMHO you can feel the effects of trail-braking or lift-off WAY before breaking traction.

That said, please correct me, but after borrowing a BoxterS I think I'm going to be hard pressed keeping up with my friends BoxterS tiptronic in the twisties!? At the same pucker factor the Porsche seems to enter corners at higher speeds than the S2000 and for us mere mortals the throttle application of the tiptronic is a lot easier... Admittedly this is much due to my lack of skill. Comments?

I never found below 600 miles to be frustrating. Yes, I was very anxious to get to VTEC, but I even enjoyed driving the car in non-vtec mode. At least I could still take corners fast Enjoy your car, I sure as hell am

Wait till you get to 5,000 miles. The engine gets stronger as it ages. I felt a definite pickup in power around 5K miles. Of course, that's based on the trusty old butt dyno.

Oh goodie! I just popped 5K miles this past weekend (pleased to say I bought the car with only 3K on it just 3 weeks ago!)...so thanks for letting me know some more good news to look forward to!

Interesting increments. I thought by staying within 6000rpm for the 600miles, you'd be fine ? is there a reason you chose the increments ?

thanks

simon2000, I chose the increments after reading recommendations on this Forum. If you're interested do a search.

Many on this forum run their engines in even more conservatively: eg. 700 miles max. 7000 rpm, 800 miles max. 8000 rpm. etc.
