i thought the same thing about the seats. way too worn for that low of mileage. the seats in my 03 with 10k miles look brand new still.

everything else has been mentioned and i still can't figure out why it doesn't have a horn...

i'd run like hell.

i meant a tiny bit high because to me it seems that that's the price you woulda paid for that mileage maybe a year or a year and a half ago...i dunno.

now having seen the car though, i would agree with everyone else and say to not buy the car if you haven't already. the car does look shady....and is missing stock parts. is there such a thing as a return policy at dealerships?

I have to agree with everyone else. You need to walk on this one. Somebody said there are like 36k S2000s in America and I'm sure you can find one in better condition and for less money. I should have read the whole thing before I posted. IThe '03 I'm buying has 10k miles and I'm gettin it for $20,750. I'm buyin it in Iowa though. Good luck with getting a good one.

Judging from your post, you are probably in the process of picking up the car right now.

The car has low miles which makes you think the car was rarely driven, probably garaged, owned by a wealthier individual who values his assets, and maintained correctly. However, all this is thrown out the door when major work has been done to it. It was probably driven hard/regularly then sat for extended periods of time.

If you already have the car, just forget about it and enjoy the car. You did pay a premium price considering you can get a used 04/05 for not significanly more than that with the new body style and motor [helps resale]. You have low miles, go add some!

wow thanks a lot guys. no i havn't bought the car yet, because after lots more thinking, i feel wrong dishing out 26k for a car with a shady history and missing oem pieces. i guess i need to learn to wait, cuz finding a black s2k with low miles and decent price is almost impossible around here. i didnt know the car was missing a horn, thanks for the heads up. i did notice the battery was replaced, but they told me it was cuz the car was sitting around for 2 months without being moved so they replaced the battery to be safe.....

when i first heard that the whole car was repainted i was also very doubtful, cuz painting a whole car is not cheap nor is it easy. also the front right rim got curbed. with all the missing oem parts and the whole crappy repaint...this car is not worth the money. i'm going back now to talk to them about it. most likely i'll just have to wait for a better deal, to wait for a clean s2000 without all the bullshit.

again thanks for all the help guys, really appreciate it.

Screams salvage car or theft recovery to me.....Looks like they may have replaced the seats, looks to have replaced the engine, very easily could have replaced the gauge cluster which would have replaced the milage.

Did you run a carfax on this before you got it?

FYI here's why I think the odds are pretty good the engine has been replaced.

1st. No airbox and as a result all the secondary air injection cables are ghetto attached to the engine block because they can't be attached to the airbox. Almost looks like a bungee cord was used to hold them.

2nd. Engine mounts and engine are way too shiny new especially in areas that are very difficult to clean or reach you would expect some dust accumulation at least but there is none. This suggests that the part is new for one additional reason. Seeing the engine obsessively clean would not always indicate a replaced engine....EXCEPT the fact that the rest of the engine bay is so dirty....why would they go to the effort of cleaning the engine so completely yet leave the cruise control cover and the rest of the engine bay so dirty. It is so much easier to clean those areas than the engine....unless the engine was already clean because it was removed. Also hard to be sure but the motormount nut on the passenger side of the car looks like it's missing the 'yellow line' that honda puts on all the nuts to determine if they have been tampered with or modified.

3. Look at the top of the OEM shocks...they look very rusted. Looks more like something that was sitting on a salvage lot than on a dealer lot. I'd go to a dealer that you believe you can trust(Honda World comes to mind) Have them do a thorough inspection to determine what has been replaced. If it is a salvage car, then I would consult an attorney and proceed to file criminal charges with the District Attorney.

MistaSnipes just sold his 2003 blk/blk with 14k miles for 19 grand. So like they're all saying that's a little high.

dont let the low mileage dictate your decision on a buying a used car. low miles doesnt always mean a nicer buy....i bought my 03 with 19k for 23k and so far i'm happy with it. i'm sure there are lots of s2k for sale...take ur time...
good luck

okay now with all this input your ready to make a realistic offer. the seller knows the car is not right, hes counting on you not knowing poop. make low ball offer, shrug and walk away.

03 s2000

This car is tits, The rims never had brake dust remover on them(the owner actually cleaned the inside of his rims by hand. The previous owner was very picky. Pm me if you want the phone number of the guy who took it in on trade. they will ship it to you fast.
