I have Rick's holder due to the ugliness of the stock holder. However, once I repaint my bumper due to rock chips (spring), I'm likely going to fill the holes. The plugs still look a bit ugly to me...

I think mounting it like that restricts airflow to the radiator. I don't think I would risk it...

Also, chances are, it is illegal to mount it that way due to height restrictions and such.

Check out Rick's for the "JDM" mounting system. I'll probably use that for my car when I put a front plate on it.
I had my the plate on my first one zip tied as mentioned.

Never once did I have an issue with airflow or heat, including days at the track.

Thanks for the photo. A couple of questions:

1) How long of a zip-tie do you need? Or did you connect multiple ties together?
2) It looks like your plate fits nicely inside the opening, is it flat against the "grill"? I tried to fit my plate in the opening and it is too tall to fit (I thought all the plates are the same size in the US), so did you have to shave your plate to fit?

Thanks.

Edit: Upon closer examination of the picture, it looks like you had drilled holes on your plate to mount it, is that true? Is it flat against the grill? Any other mods to the plate to fit it?

Rick's is expensive, IMO. It does look cleaner, though.

I'd rather go with the $1 zip-tie option. I just got a ticket for no front plate (on my BMW). $60.
