Desmond, did you take it to Billy at Classic? Man, that sucks... I hope you're back on the road in no time!

Hey Sondra,

I sure did take it to Classic. They didnt question me the first bit and i signed the warranty fix. My car sounds soo bad. Your brother could relate i know . Driving down the road to have your diff just feel like it hit the pavement isnt fun. Im just glad i was as close as I was to Classic when it happened. Hope you are enjoying Austin.

Well i spoke with the dealer today and he told me that it looks like its going to take 2 weeks to fix everything. This is cause honda wants to see every part that comes off the vehical thats defective. I can understand 2 weeks due to the fact that its going to take a week just to do the tranny stuff by itself. I'll keep you posted on the status.

I guess you're the silver one that is there. If you saw mine, it was the white one on the rack.

Anyway, 14,000 miles and almost through those Dunlop Sport 2000s? Man, you must really work your car! I have 14k miles, and I can probably squeeze 1-2000 more miles out of my original SO2s!

Hope all gets fixed well. Those guys are the best... I was the first one to get their S2000s worked on there for the 1-2 grind thing. They take great care of you.

Yeah they are doing a good job of taking care of me. They gave me a loaner car yesterday. 2001 civic. The dealer is also doing the tranny fix on my car too. I think he was telling me that yours is taking so long cause of parts. he told me it would probably be 2 weeks before my car is done.

Good luck on your car...im already to get mine back...its all hot here...87 degrees tomorrow . I want to cruise with the top down.

Desmond,
Sorry to hear about your car, but good to hear that they are continuing their great service. I was very impressed with Billy's attitude towards the owners, its rare in my parts.

Ill have my car down that way after the national meet in April. I hope my clutch holds out till then!

So how many diff's have gone up? and maybe there will be a TSB eventually? I have noticed a sound from the rear that is similar to rusty disc brakes . . . Not bad (yet anyway)

Good luck with it

this one was for you http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...p?threadid=6324

I did get the plate a bit more clear on the original neg.
In case you want a good copy.

I think the problem with the diff is the tailshaft bearing,
thats what my service manager told. I'm getting that replaced under warranty.

This is the only reason why I am so scared of Supercharging my car. I would love to but I think this car is made with some $hity parts.

With souped up cars, longevity is strongly related to how they are driven. Lots of high rev standing starts and powershifts = trouble sooner or later unless the bits are super beefy. (BTW that is one reason I like Bimmers - they have lots of overbuilt driveline parts.) One of my first wild cars was a Porsche 914 with a 400 HP Chevy 355 hooked up to a beefier clutch and the bone STOCK transaxle which was set up for a 1.8 litre four cylinder engine. Such combinations are fine if you use full throttle and high revs ONLY when in gear, and if you avoid lots of shock loads such as the drag racing starts and racing shifts. With a gentle start and full gas pedal lift shifts the car was supposed to be good for high 11s in the 1/4 mile. In-gear it would break CV joints if you used more than about 1/2 throttle alot so that had to be upgraded. Enough torque to smoothly start out in 4th gear. Some race car drivers have about 1/3 the driveline troubles experienced by others...it's not just luck. A little mechanical sympathy goes a really long way. I wish I could teach that too my wife. She just keeps on driving if a check engine or water temp or other issue arises.

Well my rear end sounded like it had a bad bearing too. So much in fact that the mechanic swore it was a bad wheel bearing. So he told me to drive it for a week till he could fit me in. Well my car only lasted a day and a half after that visit to be flat bedded back there. The Discrict Service manager for honda florida region is coming by to look at my car on Monday. They said he wants to take a look at it to see if i have been abusing my car. Haha..Well I dont abuse my car but i drive it the way an S2k should be driven. And if thats abusing the car...then i got the wrong vehical. But honda doesnt think there is going to be any problems because this shouldnt have occured. they showed me a sample of my diff. fluid and it was completely black with metal pieces everywhere. It looked awful. Very sludgy too. Well until i get more news on monday...tah tah for now.
