My differential started making a howling noise last week. So i took it by honda for them to drive..and they thought it was a wheel bearing and scheduled my clutch replacement and synchro stuff for next week. Well today the differential got really loud....Clicking noises..and then finally locked up. Sucks. Ill let you know what comes out of it...Honda is fixing it under warranty.

Sorry to hear it! Hope it can be fixed quickly. What happened when it broke; did it seize up or did it just go round with no go? (Just wonder if you can drive the car home if something like that happens...)

I couldnt drive it far...maybe only 50 feet...cause one wheel would lock..then the other...then the other...with loud clicking and clunking from the rearend. When AAA dropped it off to honda...the tech couldnt even move it to park it..they had to push it. And it was clicking then too.

YIKES!

Might have to consider an extended warranty before my 3/36 expires...

Sorry to hear that! I think Mingster mentioned something in one of his posts about changing out the differential fluid at 10k and it looked like black sludge. I wonder if its related...

I have 14,000 miles on my car...i wish i had known that. I would have changed it then. I also have the 7 year 100,000 mile warranty. Everything should be ok soon though. All the parts are be overnighted. This happened to our moderator's brother's s2000. I think i need to call him.

Find out some info on what they did.

Does anyone know what the owners manual states on the service intervals when you should change the diff fluid? Just wondering. I think im going to start changing it ever 10,000 miles. And what is the weight of our diff. fluid and tranny fluid? Just wanted to know.

Thanks in advance.
