Differential mount failures
Hi All,
For all concerned that have had a differential rear mount failure (i.e. fluid filled 'donut' shaped mounting points on left and right rear of the diff) either fully ruptured or just leaking oil, which side was it?
My dealer's mechanic discovered that the left-side one on my car has failed. Personally I have not discovered any fluid leakage while my car is garage kept. So I am guessing this fluid has probably been gone for much longer (from the start or maybe during shipping of my car from the US to Europe, who knows). Right now the part has a rupture from the outside to the center of the 'donut'. The right mount side seems to be OK, but I have decided to replace that part as well as a precautionary measure.
Here are some threads dealing with similar failures:

As you can see, this seems to be a common issue!
I look forward to your replies!

Good luck with your "poll".
I'm not so sure that this is "common". Like I said in one of those other threads, it's "well known" but I don't think it's common when you consider the number of reports of this compared to the overall number of S2000s sold to date. Mine is getting close to 5 years old and having just been under there doing a fluid change, I can see no signs of the mounts going bad.
Perhaps this is why the response in this thread has been so low (well, so far, just me).

XViper, maybe your right and it is not so common
Should have posed a simple question like "is this common". That seems very popular these days.
From whatever I have seen on this board (with the help of the almighty search button - hence I think it is a common problem - but that's beside the point) I'm trying to establish if the failure is primarily the left mount.
Anyway, there should be at least five people here able to vote, but I guess we are all too busy with the upcoming changes for MY 2006.
Take care,
Siepel
