Default do dealers still perform the hardtop strikers?

I read that Honda issued a TSB for the original convertible top striker plates. Does Honda still replace these under Warranty/TSB? Or should I just go ahead and buy them from Hardtopguy and install them myself?

The TSB only applied to early MY2000 production cars, those made before the hard-top was introduced. When the hard-top came out, all production S2000s had the hard-top strikers installed at the factory. Since you have a MY2001, your car already have the hard-top strikers and therefore the TSB would not apply to your car. The strikers were never a "warranty" issue as far as I know; and besides, a MY2001 is way out of warranty by now.

Edit: By the way, TSBs and warranty are separate issues. TSBs are done routinely outside of the warranty period, so it would not hurt for you to approach your local Honda dealer to see if your strikers quality for the replacement TSB. Who knows, they may say they will replace it for you for free. No harm in trying. Good luck.

generally, the more established your relationship with the dealer, the more likely TSBs will be done out of warranty.

If you go buy a beat up MY00 from another dealer and demand the clutch tsb be done, they will laugh you out of there.
