Do you brake wave?
Don't know much about the real brake wave, but the way I use it around here is when any given Redneck in a dated F-body is too close to me hopin' I'll bite, I touch the brake with my toe (to get him to slow down) and simultaneously slam the car in second and stab the gas with my heel and wave goodbye...hehe.

I do that all the time without giving it a name, but I like the new term. It's like, .... foot off the gas..."can I hold this corner...without.....brake......???" back on the gas........ "ahhhh, yes I can....."
I call this "hovering". I often hover over the brake, just in case.
I had similar trouble at autocross as I would often push the clutch in, and take the car out of gear, while in a tight turn out of habit, just incase I needed to downshift. The shifting back into 2nd gear was obviously costing me time.
After riding with an instructor (an ex-Nationalist) I realized that he hardly evey used the brake, and never shifted out of 2nd gear. My solution to the natural tendency has been to put my left foot on the dead pedal, instead of hovering over the clutch like I normally do. This kept me from habitually pushing the clutch in. This has no relevence to this post.
