Agree. I hate it when minivans are pulling away as I'm waiting for the revs to build. A little more torque would make the car feel more punchy down low - and a lot more fun in a wider variety of driving situations.

I've been DD'ing an ap1 for almost a year and I have to say it isn't boring, but it gets really aggravating on some days.

It's loud, hates cruising at or below the speed limit, sucks in the rain, sucks on 95+ degree days, small gas tank, mediocre mpg, etc.

In my opinion it depends on where you live. If I lived in Florida for example and didn't attend track days then yes, I would probably be more frustrated, and was the case

Since I have moved to Portland Oregon which has an abundance of fantastic roads and access to a track literally 10 mins from downtown, PIR, I wouldn't change the car for anything (within my pay grade)

As others have said it also helps to have a standard daily.

You could get use to owning/driving an S2000, but bored no. I use to daily my S for 2 years in the midwest, after a while I felt bad with salt, so bought a daily. I leave the S in the garage 6-8months out of the year and when I get back in it, its pure pleasure. I have owned and driven many cars from American muscle to European delight. But the simpleness and sharp handling of the S2000 makes me fall back in love with the car over and over.

Dude that ting is sick. I don't even know what it is. Out of curiosity, how much would the market value that thing right now as it is? It looks like the type of vehicle that you may have the nicest one in the state or region you're in so I wouldn't sell it if I were you either lol. Looks fun

LOL .. Thanks guys !!
Thought you guys would like it because it's a completely restored 1966 Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser .. VERY rare, they all rusted out.

So, this car completely changed my perspective, every 'fun' car that I've had was super fast and I thought that getting faster and faster cars was the answer to keeping the excitement there ... well it isn't. Insane acceleration, and awesome handling is no doubt a TON of fun, but do it every day and the excitement disappears. Every time I go for a drive in the FJ in the country with the wife and the 3 dogs in the back, with the sun shining your enjoying life, and this is what its all about

Now that said, putting the 69' Camaro sideways down the road in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears .. well, it puts a smile on my face EVERY time

Cheers
Steve

I put 100k on my S2000 in about 3.5 years.. Now its a "weekend" car. I had less periods of boredom with it when I drove it every day.

I think this might be my solution!

First response (rlr) nailed it. I'd get bored of my DD when it was my only car, but now I have two vehicles with their own merits.

On a related note, trying to have a do-everything DD is a mistake IMHO.

Bored? I only get 1200 miles a year driving it. I fight to find more time behind the wheel.
