Default do you feel pressue to upgrade

stemming from many other threads (one in particular where many past s2k owners "upgraded" to c6 corvettes even though they admit the s2k was much more fun), there seems to be an undercurrent pushing people to move past the s2k.

do you feel any pressure from society, friends, spouses, neighbors to upgrade from the little honda? or could you see yourself being a proud owner as you age?

of course the easy answer is that you'll keep the car and add some other fancy mobile. but if you couldn't do so, where does the all-american feeling of wanting to upgrade come from?

I don't feel any pressure at all. I actually "want" to upgrade to a C6 Vette or Elise.

jk dan

The S is more than enough car for me. The only time I will need to upgrade is when I need the room, and I have my eyes set on the Audi S5

I go through cars a lot. I think I've had 7 different cars in the last 7 years. I've had the S2000 for 3 years now though, so I've been having the same problem with my second car. I bought a 99 Accord last weekend actually. I'm trying to fight the urges every day, but for now the plan is to keep the S2000 forever.

We all want somethinig that we can't have or shouldn't have. its like being in a toy store when you're a little kid and you just want to buy everything...

I wouldnt mind adding to the stable but to me its not necessary

No. I'd like a new car so I don't have to see all the scratches, dings and other wear/tear that a 7+ year old car accumulates. (And that's for my own benefit, not anybody else's.) And so I wouldn't have to worry about what mechanical part might be getting worn out and approaching failure.

I've thought about an Elise because, honestly, it's more fun to drive than an S2000. But the rest of the car ownership experience isn't worth it, IMO. Nothing else out there (that I can afford!) interests me all that much. I'd like to take an F430, GT3 and GTR for a spin, but would never purchase one. Cayman/Boxster S are great cars, but I like the S2000 better.

So I suspect that I'll be holding on to the MY00 S2000 for a long, long time. About the only thing that would truly make me replace it is if it got totalled, in which case I'd look for the best condition AP1 I could find.

Or, maybe, the next NSX assuming Honda can get it right, and it's not too expensive.

I don't feel the need to upgrade. I'll most likely keep the S2K. However, I've been wanting to get back into another Audi, TTRS or S5.

Nope -- not until my S dies and it has a loooong way to go.
