Do you have an affinity with all roadsters?
The other day on I-95 a Mazdaspeed Miata pulled alongside me also with its top down. The driver respectfully nodded and I felt an instant affinity with him. I guess I felt we were both experiencing much of the same exhilaration.
There is no doubt that of all roadsters, I think the Honda is the most exciting, but I feel a kinship with other two seat manual shift sports cars out there, especially if they have the top and windows down.
It is much like the way all motorcyclists wave at each other regardless of the make of motorbike they are driving.

yes Purp Haze, I do admit to a general like of roadsters. I have a feeling that people who don't know me think the S is my middle life crisis car (and maybe it is), but I've had roadsters off and on most of my driving life.
There are some really nice roadsters around and I enjoy checking them all out. The Merdedes line of roadsters has really caught my eye lately. I aways enjoy encounters with BMW z8's as well, although rather rare. Yesterday when going to work a Z3 with top down got in front of me. I was just trying to get close enough to look it over and maybe exchange some pleasantries, but they seemed to run when I got closer. Anyway, yes, I share your kindrid spirit for all roadsters.

Only roadsters that perform at least respectable numbers. M Roadster, Boxster S, SLK AMG, S2000, etc. I do not have this affinity with base Z3s, base boxsters, Miatass, or base SLKs or SC430s and the like, especially the ones that cost so much and perform poorly.

And yes, I appreciate most other roadsters out there. When the S2000 was new and few were on the road, I organized a few Roadster Meets at a local car show. We regularly had drivers of S2000s, Z3s, Boxsters and MR2 Spyders show up.

I've always liked convertibles and especially the 2 seater versions. When I was growing up in the late 50's, 60's and early 70's, my Dad went through a "bunch" of Triumphs, MG's, Austin Healy's, etc. He'd buy them used, restore then, drive them for a year or two, then sell them and go find another. To me, it was a lot of fun. I learned to drive a manual transmission in a '67 MG Midget. 
I've always wanted a car like this but haven't up till now because a) there just wasn't anything out there that caught my eye and b) insurance was too much of an issue for me.
These days, I don't care about the insurance any more and the S2000 exists! When I first saw an S, it reminded me a lot of the ol MGB's, albeit with "signficantly" more performance.
That's what really got me looking at what was out there. In the "bang for the buck" category, I don't think you can do better than an S2000, performance wise.

When I bought this car my priority was:
1) Roadster (two seats & convertable top, no luxury)
2) Value
3) Handling.
So my 'affinity' is towards anyone in a roadster. I don't car much if it is a Miata, a 2000 or whatever. The S2000 isn't that special to me It is just one of many nice roadsters that we are lucky enough to be able to buy.
