Hey KingKong, got your email. If you can't get a ride from Paul. Let me know. We can hook up in Folsom.

Hey KingKong, I'll be happy to take you for a drive...maybe we can get together with nvmys2k for the Sacto S2K Club. I'll email you guys...I don't want this thread to go too far off subject.

For the record, I don't have any regrets. I've waited a long time to own an S2K, but the prices were outrageous (one dealer offered a black one to me at 45K a year ago). I was able to get the yellow S2K for just under 34K (with 67mi it's practically used...there was no way I was going to pay the 38K the dealer was asking!). I've put on 900 miles so far and it's been great...once it's broken in that vtec makes one the sweetest sounds around!

Your words,

"Plus, you only live once, and I can say I had it all once in my life, beautiful woman, beautiful car, what more could you want?"

IMO, buy the stook now and have it paid off before you are married and thinking about children. Let this be your weekend car for the next 20 years.

You won't regret it.

Well I had a 99 Civic Si totally paid off...one day while I was at work a buddie of mine took my Fiance to the honda dealer to check out the S2k (for himself)...Well I get home from work...she says "lets get an s2000"...I traded in the Si for 14,000and financed the rest. $551.27 a month for 60 months @ 12.4% (had to put the car in her name, my father ruined my credit (long story) )...Now I also have about 60k in debt 20k CC's 20k loan from sister to pay off other CC's and 20k in tech school loans. Now that I have the s2k I can not afford to eat lunch every day and My fiance and I can only go out once a week (she is in school and working but not making that much) I also can barly afford to smoke cigarettes any more

Do I have any regrets

HELL NO

Being older and reasonably secure, this is not a question that troubles me anymore, at least with cars (college tuition for my children is another matter -- imagine buying a new S2000 every year!). But when I was much younger, like a lot of S2000 owners I've met, I had an E-type that stretched me to the limit and drained every spare cent I had, and more. You have all my sympathy if any car puts you in this situation. With the benefit of hindsight, I really do wonder if any car is worth it, even our beloved S2000.

Dude, it's worth it! I just turned 24, and as a birthday present to myself, I bought a black on black S2000. I Don't make a lot of money but enough to afford it. Sitting at the dealer, I thought if I was making the right choice, or should I wait. Said to myself, the heck with it, and signed on the dotted line. I love this car. Moral of the story, live for today, no one knows what tomorrow will bring, not even you. Hell, I never in my wildest dreams thought I would own one. Now I do. By the way, the girlfriend will understand, (kind of in the same situation as you), mine did.

Wow, I cant believe you guys are still replying to this post. Thanks for all the great advice!

I am trading in my current car and working a deal to buy a black S2K. It should be in by the end of the month. Hopefully the deal goes well. Wish me luck!

I just hope they dont bring that Type V S2000 from Japan for the 2002 year. Boy that would suck, because I would have to trade up real soon It would also hurt if the blue came over here too.

This actually turned out to be a great thread, it "touches" on something that almost all of us have thought about at one time or another.

I'm 23, and have never been so "emotional" about a car. I'm a car nut, but every time I see my S TWO K it brings a smile to my face.

Obviously the majority of people on this board are going to say take the jump......and buy it. IMO, our age is the perfect time to own this vehicle and while it may be impractical for most people to own, we don't have families and heavy mortgage payments.....yet.

Now that prices have come down, it's also a great time to buy.

S TWO K, two 23 year olds think alike. Although I don't own the S2000 yet due to inability to decide between the Honda and a European car... I do agree that this is the perfect time to own a two-seater roadster.
