Do you regularly use a radar detector?
Just curious on detector usage. Do you use a radar detector more than 50% of the time you drive, in any car? I stopped using a detector several years ago and have had 3 warnings and no tickets since then. I sometimes consider buying a Solo cordless, but I'm not convinced you are truly better off with one than without. I'm curious as to the regular use percentage of other sports car enthusiats. I don't daily drive my S, so the cordless would let me easily swap back and forth among vehicles.
I'm using a Whistler 3450 Pro. I originally bought it as a temporary unit until I could afford something better but it has worked so well I haven't found a reason the swap it out.
Pros: It is a built in unit so there's nothing showing to entice someone to do a grab and run when the car is left unattended with the top down; there are no unsightly cords; and nothing blocking the field of view while driving.
Cons: Having the sensor unit hidden in the grill on such a low car reduces sensitivity. With the stereo turned up loud it is easy to miss the alarm, especially during the daylight with the top down.
Overall it has been the best $100.00 I have spent and saved me numerous tickets.
Mi dos centavos.

I've never used one. I think I would make good use of it. Last ticket was in Wis. Was pushing too hard and not paying attention to traffic flow/speed. I try to pace someone with a detector.
I didn't use a detector for years (but I also only had trucks for years.) When I got my S I got a Passport 8500. In the first year I had it, I am SURE that it saved me at least 10 times. I upgraded to the 8500 x50 and have been VERY happy with it. I have a hardwire kit in all of my cars, and move the detector to which ever car I am driving.

I have the V1 hardwired in both of my cars and switch back and forth. I feel naked on the few instances when I've forgotten to switch it.
I've also noticed that in many respects it causes me to drive slower than I might otherwise drive. In SoCal the CHP seems to always have their radar on so I usually encounter three to four warnings a day. Even with the arrows you can't immediately tell if they are on my side or in oncoming traffic. The arrows certainly help me focus on where to look and once I'm past I know if I'm safe or not.
