Dodge Viper Vs S2000
well i don't know about your s2000 but mine acts as both an s2000 and viper. one time i was waiting for a friend in a parking lot and these two teenagers are walking closer to my car and i hear one of them going, "i bet you $50 that that's a viper" so yea...might as well keep your car and boost it.
I think it's more that the Viper feels more like a sports car and the S feels more like a go-kart. One thing the Viper will have that the S never will, even if you boost it to hell: torque...and lots of it. A well-rounded power curve makes the car more predictable. Turbos on 4cyl. car are typically very unpredictable. If you hit boost in the apex of a turn...good luck keeping it pointed in the right direction. The Viper makes a LOT more power, which means it's going to require a LOT more skill to pilot it. As for upkeep, have you ever owned a boosted car before? Everyone I know that has spends oodles of time and money just keeping it running. Just my experience though...
Also, agreed with Z06>Viper. Less rare, probably. But I believe the Z06 is the king of performance/dollar.

Build and boost the s2k. It's way cooler because its not something somebody can go buy. I think the s2k is one of the sexiest looking cars because of how clean the body lines are. There isn't any random shit on it lol.
Plus its more fun beating v8s with 4cyl vs beating a v8 with a 10 cyl lol

400whp is no problem for the stock engine on an s2k.
Also you say you want the power of an sti. While it does have more power, all but the newest model sti's are not any faster besides launching than an s2k.. Just feel like it with the added torque.

couple of things i must critique here...
i have seen quite a few NSX convertible....i dont know if that will fit your wallet budget...which as others have said, is very crucial....talking about tires to oil changes the cost will be multiplied in a viper over an s2000...i wish you would drive your car more though....
next, you mention wanting the power of an STI but finess of an s2000....buy an STI. the AWD will be great for what you want out of the car driving....it will not be as showy as i think you want but nonetheless an awesome car that fares well on the track and the road alike.
lastly, you mentioned receiving a $500 ticket and increased insurance rates....well, i am not challenging or asking anything more than a rhetorical question, how can you afford the cost of insurance on a viper!?!
end rant.
goodluck with whatever you do man, i hope it works out

They are not even comparable. It seems that all you want is power. Get the viper then....... power is endless there.

I think it's harder for me to try to let go of the S because it has stopped being made.
Sounds like you still don't know what YOU want.
I'd take a common Z06 over a Viper any day.
