Does anyone here have a FAST S2000?
best fix= Dodge Ram 3500 Dually with the Cummins Turbodiesel. that's gotta add at least 6 inches.
Sorry dude, but you're on an S2000 forum. if you want to bitch about it being slow, go bitch on some forum where they'll agree. If you need to hit 11's, you bought the wrong car....and if now you're dissapointed, that's your fault for not doing the research. This car will get beaten by Corvettes, but the Vette has almost 3 times the displacement of the S! and an 800 HP Supra is certainly doable, but is not cheap at all. 500 Hp out of a 13B is doable(essentially a 3.0 litre I6 when you look at the combustion cyvles), but that is a little time-bomb. 500 Hp out of an F20C is 250 hp/litre which is approaching F1 levels which are around 270-300 HP/litre. There's no replacement for Displacement.....except for a Tein RA coilover set, some Light wheels, and some R compound tires.
If you want to embarrass corvettes, rx-7's, supras, etc....hit up the auto-X and you'll tear them up, stock. upgrade the suspension, get gears, and some sticky tires, and you'll shit yourself since you'll be having so much fun. You can get a lot of enjoyment from this car, but it's a different kind of car than those high power FI factory cars. It's not meant to hit the stoplight drags on friday nights...it's meant to put a smile across your face when you hit that corner on your drive to work that makes you marvel at the car's abilities, and then you remember why you bought it. I think you're priorities are in the wrong order to be an S2000 owner.
Don't take the above comments personally, they just have a little less candor when it comes to voicing their opinions. Welcome to the club! I hope you find your car is perfect for what it was meant to do...you said it yourself that with enough money you could make a pinto do 11's but that's dumb- ditto for the S2K.

Dumping $30K on a S2K (or any car) might not be a big deal for some people, but it's a pretty big purchase for most of us here.
I can't imagine spending that much money on a car until I've at least spent some time checking my options, doing some research, and making sure it's going to be and perform how I want it to.
I may be slower than a Vette, but I'm having so much more fun.
Two cars ago I had an 11 sec. 3000GT VR4. It was great because on the street I could race anything with confidence. Problem is, something that fast breaks a lot. So it cannot be driven a lot. In all honesty I sometimes really miss the raw speed. But then I just go outside and look at my S2000 and I realize I honestly have way more fun in this car. So if you want all out strait line speed, it is time for you to trade it in.

whatchu runnin' under there? Did you get the old brown turbo, or the new black one? maybe some collaboration with Ford for a Supercharger? Did you hollow out the wheel spokes and fill em with nitrous for better weight distribution? how about a subwoofer angled out the back for Rocket propulsion?
(people who get that, get it...those of you who don't I can't help you)
Oh! Oh! I know! You have neon underbody lights and....200 stickers at 10 HP each, right? the "Type-R GT S R Cobra VTEC-spec VR-4 Sti WRX 10 Evo ZO6 Turbo powered by your mom" sticker on the windshield is worth 100 HP, at least...
lets see, 2000 HP is 1000 hp/litre. the BMW turbo 4 cylinder 1.5 litre F1 engines ran 1,100 HP in race trim and 1,500 in qualifying trim...So those 2000 ponies would put you at the same specific output of a Turbo F1 car during qualifying. people say anything's possible with enough money...but i don't think that is. How many 9,000 RPM drops would the differential take at those power levels?

First off Fomula red s2k ignore The s2000 owners that have thier nose high in the air. Believe me there shit stinks just as bad as ours.
It is extremely hard to Mod an s2000 after all it has 240 crank hp from the factory for a 2.0l. engine!
The s2000 was made for the twisties. I suggest ya take a ride up to Boonton twp. or Kinnelon or up into sussex county late at night and hit some of the twisties. The car will warp ya into the next dimension at 100 plus on those back tight twisty roads, will make ya feel like an f-1 driver. The Car just comes alive at over 75 mph on really tight and twisty roads.
But I too also like to have some grunt on the highway (Route 10 stop lights ring a bell) For those times when I need some thrust a 75 shot of Nitrous does wonders. Combine that with the 4.44 gears and dam ya got a car that can burn rubber all the way through first and second
gear. There is no easy answer with this car. Even forced induction has its pit falls. I'll give ya a ride some day! But first I owe another metro owner a ride. Between the rain my flat tire and recently a blown nitrous relay its been tough.
I think your best means of attack is a 4.44 rear gear. parts and install will run a total of 1200 to 1300 dollars.
The gears liven up the car down low makes shifts more snappy. Also can drop 1/4 mile times by about .4 to .5 of a second. That should put ya at about 13.5 1/4 mile times consistently. Got mine installed at Bruces speed shop in Rockaway on rt. 46.
But lets face it your a speed freak and ya like to prove it to others. Just like me. What it comes down to is we will never be satisfied. Always wanting more.
Oh yeah mental mods help also. A new exhaust with a nice tone is not speed but music to your ears. An intake will improve throttle response and the sound is music to the ears. A voodoo shift knob makes throws quicker. Tighten throttle cable makes take off a little easier and more responsive. Build what you want. Not what others have. For every mod on these boards there is a good story and a bad story.
Good luck and most of all.......Have fun!
