So I used to have a S2k back in 2003. I'm now considering one again but would want to do the hardtop. But I'm wondering if the top squeaks and rattles...

Any feedback?

 

yes and yes. It's not like a fixed roof, but there are fixes that can get it rather quiet if the noises bother you.

 

Applying Shin-Etsu to the moldings will stop the squeak/creak for some time. Re-apply when needed. Works great. Don't have any rattling problems with my HT.

EDIT: Also, I've never had any squeaking from the HT. The only time I get a slight creak is when I drive over uneven pavement that twists the chassis...kinda hard to describe. But again, the grease mentioned above eliminates the creak.

 

Mine doesn't make a sound, it all depends on how good you adjust it

 

mine creek pretty bad. i just ordered some grease! cant wait to fix it. do i do it to all the rubber seals around the hardtop?

 

There are so many other sounds in the car that I would have a hard time telling if one was being caused by the hard top.

 

I think most will creak a little over uneven surfaces at low speed but other than that, you should never notice any sound coming from the HT.

 

 

Yes, all over the rubber seals on the top and on the car.

 

I notice queak around the latch area when I enter a drive way in a angle. Otherwise, ok.
