Does the S2000 really draw that much attention ?
my 06 Yellow does get a lot of positive comments when I was in Lewiston, NY. pretty much anyone who saw when they heard that I had just purchased the car were impressed. Mostly older people though.
I'm sure I'll get some looks from peeps... hopefully female. hahaha.
I got way more looks from on my old 98 CBR600 in red. Not much in yellow/blue 2000 CBR929RR. None in my 01 silver GTI.

if you get Suzuka blue, you will get all the girls.

. NFR is a real man's color, lol.Anyway, I live in San Diego and I get tons of stares. I have seen people walking all around my car while it was parked, I have had people talk to me at gas stations, stop lights, everywhere. Earlier this week on my way out of town, I got a thumbs up on the freeway from a middle-aged guy in a Porsche. I guess it all depends on how your car is modded and how it is presented?
I think yellow would get more attention, but my silverstone gets a lot of attention, when I'm at work I can see my car right out the window, and I can't tell you how many people look in the windows and circle it and stuff. I hit panic if they touch it though. It's nuts, I couldn't imagine what it must be like for someone with a Ferrari.
Me and a friend were heading out to an autox our S2000s in the morning, when the guy in the gas station asked if he could sit in it and get a picture taken on the guy's cell phone . I sat there in my car bewildered until my friend came over and told me what was happening.
Myself, I've had grand-ma's tell me it's a cute car. I've even cut off a lady trying to get to my turning lane, only to have her say pull up next to me and say "I didn' twant to hit your pretty car, I'm sorry!" That's on top of the typical stares and nice car comments while driving around. And it's not like I'm out in the boonies -- I'm in Dallas, and S2000s are everywhere. So I'm a little surprised by the attention it can still garner.

I got a thumbs up yesterday from an older man in a silver MGB.
I haven't received much hate outside of a few local kids mouthing something as the drove by in their lifted pick-up-truck. I'm pretty sure they were telling me how poorly their chances at getting laid were.
It doesn't garner the contempt that my mazdaspeed miata did, which, perhaps was slightly less raw than the s2k. Perception is king I guess.

Nothin gets the looks like New Formula Red. I keep getting stopped and asked what kind it is, are the rollbars a backseat, etc.
The worst though was this weekend. I had a guy look at it and say, "Oh, is that the Honda version of a miata?". Grrrrrrrrrrr
My reply: "Yep, with about 100 more horsepower"

Color really changes people's perception of the car. Yellow works on the S2000, but its still too loud for most. Silver/White/Black are all very classy and give the S2000 an upscale look. Non-metallic colors give it a cheaper/more Miata-esque look. If you look at premium brands (Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Lexus, etc) the majority of the colors are mattlic/pearlesent, and they usually charge a premium for it.
Its all about perception. Buy what makes you happy and the color you like.

It really depends where you live. For me, I don't get too many heads turned just because everyone where I live drive a lot nicer cars than me. But yellow would definitely get you attention not only from people, but from the 5.0

I got pulled over twice in a 24 hour period (3 times that week)...
#1 I was driving at 1:30 in the morning with the top down with my friend, a cop followed me for a while, and then pulled me over and wanted to check registration and papers to see if it was stolen (this is when I had a temporary tag)
#2 I was coming down from a lookout at a place called Ensign Peak... I was going down a steep hill and according to the cop I "rolled through a stop sign"... no ticket...
#3 I was test driving an AP2 (I got a promotion with a big salary increase) so I was like, "what the heck"... sales rep told me to take a corner fast, then saw red and blue... 57 in a 30... the cop gave me some crap, asked about the car, and then let me off
