i have an MY00 and the button looks like there is white paint filling in the letters so i wasn't expecting to see it light up but when i turned the car on sure enough u can see some light coming through the letters

So I just went downstairs to see if my roommate's lit up. He's got an '02 and I've got an '01. I was POSITIVE mine didn't light up, but I checked just in case. And it lit up. I came back inside to tell him the story and he said "Mine doesn't light up. I'm sure of it." Well, ?I wend back out to check his and it lights up too.

So, two S2000s here. A well-worn '01 and a fairly pampered '02. Both have light-up buttons.

MY01 and yes it lights up. MY favorite is the light up "Roof" knob, cause it really dont make sense just sitting there with "Roof" written on it, well at least I didnt think so.
