i finally overshot a left turn like i knew i was eventually going to having a car like this. was going pretty quick down the road and slammed my brakes for a left hand turn, lo and behold my brakes locked!!! i was expecting the abs racket to que me when to gas it and oversteer thru the turn hit the corner curb at an angle, RF wheel went over, RR wheel went over, LF wheel slammed against side of curb. bounced back into the middle of the street i was turning onto with my two front wheels pointed different directions.

damage: bent RF lower arm, snapped off my left steering rod, broke RF stabilizer link. snapped SRS cable to steering wheel, snapped steering wheel cable reel. wheel now has lock to lock turning of -infinity to infinity. estimated bill: $3400. good thing i have insurance. estimated time: once parts come in, one day to do repairs

this was a very stupid thing that i did, but i was expecting my stupidity to get the best of me eventually. i'm still a kid all in all. hopefully since the last thing i hit was a few trees in the ice 6 years ago my insurance won't throw a huge fit, but it's definately time for me to go to an advanced driving school. i can't help but think if i were a bit more educated i could have avoided damaging anything.

on the plus side, i've become a lot more productive in the office

Dohhhhh!! How fast were you going? Hope you escaped without injury. Good luck getting it fixed!

Time for me to go to driving school too, so I can safely explore the limits. I'm slowly driving my car harder but don't want to push it too far

no injuries? I'm glad you and your car are going to be ok Now about the insurance, it's hard to say...Was there a police report?

Now just to let you know (and everyone else), that it is VERY possible to lock up ABS brakes! They're not supposed to unless you REALLY hammer on them.

That could be a thing on your side though, ABS failed so you wrecked...I dunno...I could be wrong though...

Good luck on getting the parts in quickly!

thank goodness the police didn't have time to show up, a tow truck was there right after it happened.

the mech. said that if insurance says fedex they'll come overnight, otherwise 3-5 days. either way looks like i'll have my baby back for thanksgiving
