Don't feel the S2000 is that fast
I can understand how you feel, but like others have said, you should have known this before buying an S2K. I had an STI, a Mazdaspeed 6, and before that a highly modified Mitsubishi Starion, which was an absolute beast. They were just such "easy to go fast" cars. I don't think the S2000 is slow, but you gotta earn every ounce of HP it offers. It's deceptively fast once you get to 6krpms. It doesn't feel like your taking off, but when you look down at the speedo, it's really beginning to move. I love it because it's tame when you want it to be, and fast when you want it to be. It's the best of both worlds, as it can be a Civic if you want it to be, or a true sports car if you want it to be.
For me, I got over the torque and muscle, and just fell in love with the S2K. I owned an 01 before my 06, and when it came time to settle on one really nice car, I sold the others off, and chose the S2K. I have never looked back, but I will admit, FI is starting to enter my mind for the future, so the big power itch is still there. Try and enjoy the car for what it is, and if you still feel this way, time to sell it and move on.

Old topic but I guess I'll add my two cents.
Anybody that buys the S2000 with the sole intention of going fast in a straight line will be disappointed. That's just not what the car is made for. I used to own a 2004 350z, and the Z still has a slight edge over the S in a straight line, but mostly when grunting around in higher gears. However, the handling of both cars cannot even be compared, the S is in a class of its own in that department.
If you want to go fast in a straight line, get a sport bike. I have a '96 Suzuki RF900R sport bike that will run a high 9 second quarter mile, and I only paid $2000 for it. That's bang for the buck. The S should not be expected to outrun anything in a straight line, save your battles for the corners.
