Don't feel the S2000 is that fast
Don't mean to start WW3 here but... Firstly, I must emphasize that I am a very happy MY04 Silverstone owner, but I just don't feel the car is that fast. I drove an 03 and while it definitely seemed a bit faster than the 04, it was marginal. I love the S2k. I think its a very good blend of design, handling, and performance. I was taken in mainly by its beautiful lines; the handling; and thought that the lack of performance is something that could be fixed later.
I read on the forums from time to time about street encounters with an M3 here, a 350Z there, etc. It just seems like either I'm a horrible driver or some people exaggerate a little bit. I used to own an Evo VII with some good performance mods. Maybe I got spoiled by the turbo; but I feel my S2k is nowhere near even a stock Evo VII in terms of performance. In handling they are close, with the Evo edging the S2k out a bit because of its ACD and AYC.
Even when in vtec, the car is speedy, but not rip-snorting fast. When not in vtec, forget it. And although I love the sounds it makes when revving hard. Its also a turn-off sometimes. You get the impression you're going really fast, then some M3 just whispers past you. I had no hesitations in my Evo VII to go after say, an M3 or a 911. But with the S2k, I hesitate. Just to keep up with these cars you have to be in vtec. The other day I saw a yellow S2k on the heels of some 911 (don't know which model). I heard them before I saw them, and guess which one I heard. The guy revving the snot out of the S2k, and it just didn't sound that cool. It just sounded like, well, a guy revving the crap out of his 4 banger to keep up with a Porsche. Even if at the end, the S2k might be able to beat it, still. Dunno.
I know there are many purists here that would call me a blasphemer, but the S2k reaaaalllyyy needs some forced induction. Don't even get me started on the NSX!!! Its amazing, I sound like I'm blasting Hondas, but I loooooove them. Its just annoying that Honda just doesn't give them enough power to backup the handling and looks!
Sorry, just venting. Can't wait till the 04 superchargers are out!!

I'm not gonna call you a blasphemer...I'm gonna agree with you
The acceleration is so smooth in the s2k that often you don't notice it until you are looking down at the speedometer. Then again, the s2k is not a "really" fast car; I actually didn't buy the car for the accleration, I bought it more for the supreme handling.
Plus, I'm sure cost has something to do with it...the faster the car the more expensive it usually is (with the exception of the NSX
). Obviously, Honda wanted to keep the s2k somewhat "affordable." Just my two cents.

You bought the wrong car. Sorry, better luck next time.
If you're venting...(or need to vent), sell the car and get something else. I hear that the 350Z is pretty nice...but wait, that might not be fast enough for you...the WRX STI (since you've already had an Evo...)
Better luck next time.
No need to vent about ur car, if you don't love it...you bought the wrong car.
