Ok Nevermind I see where now....next question once I tap it again would i need to get a bigger bolt for the fill hole?
it depends...you may need to you may not...it depends upon the severity of the strip...at either rate it shouldn't be that hard to find a new bolt

Ok here's the other scenario, my car is at the dealership right now, If I said i'm going to take it back and do it my self and tap it, will they be like hell no you better not, which i think they will say, and say well your warrenty will be denied, blah blah blah.

they can't deny your warranty unless the modification 'causes a problem. If the fill bolt came out and the diff fluid completely drained out they could deny it but that's probably the only case.

BTW have you told them to stop work on the car? You may want to before they start or it could be too late to.

Ugh. Maybe, most likely sears. Make sure that if you do it yourself that you get some info/tips from those that have done it before.

Oh you should be telling them to tap the thing and charge you for it rather then doing it yourself. Either way if you do it yourself, the worse that could happen is you blow the whole rear out from fillings that you dropped in there, well drain it right after you tap the hole and refill. Even if you do your only out the cost - 900 that you would originally be out anyway. They can't deny a engine repair because you tapped the diff,

No they haven't done any work to the car except check it out, I'll see what I can do. I just don't want to do a halfassed job and mess it up even more to where the situation can get much worse.

Oh yeah if your going to have them replace the diff housing then for god sakes buy a comptech reinforced housing! Stronger, better and can handle new gears as well. Only a hundred or so more if I'm not mistaken.

WTF!!!!!!!

Get your car back!!!!!!

This happened to my wifes car last month on the oil pan. After doing research I found that there are "self tapping" bolts in ALL sizes that you can use to plug the hole.

Bring the OEM bolt or plug in to the shop and get the correct "self tapping" bolt for the job. Metric obviously. It will look too big at first but it's strong as hell and when you screw it in it will seat it self nice and tight.

If I recall the diff plug is between 17-20 mm? It doesn't have to be the same as OEM......it just has to work....

I'm familiar with self-tapping screws, but not self-tapping bolts. Can you provide a link to a source?

Don't need them now, but this sounds like interesting hardware.
