The Spring loaded mechanism that hold the mirrors in position and allows for folding is most likely dirty or corroded after some 20 Years.
Try spraying a penetrating oil first and let it soak in. Protect the paint. If this did not work, you have to dissasemble the Mirror and repair the mechanism.

Be careful... I used to fold the mirrors on another Honda that I owned on a regular basis for years...

One day, after having folded them in daily repeatedly, they lost their ability to stay in place and just flopped around...

Yes. Some Forums encourage their members to use the old threads for similar questions and dont open new threads, some forums dont like it that old threads get "Recycled".
What do you prefer?

If it's a relevant question to the same topic bumping it is fine. What we've found recently is spammers bumping old threads to embed links.

To the topic, mirrors should be folded in (not forward) towards the door. I've never tried folding them forward (towards the front) as I don't believe they were designed to go that way. I've folded mine in many many times without issue as it stays that way in the garage with the cover on when not driving it.

I would think bumping would be the best approach. Keeps relevant info in the same thread and makes it easier to search. The more threads about the same thing, the less useful the search function is.
