Downshifting to first gear from a roll
The few times I've downshifted to 1st to take a turn, I've ended up sliding the back end around... Unless you're below ~10mph, there's simply no need to go below 2nd.
Damillster, if you VTEC on the street on a regular basis, you're not "just driving." I consider it "aggressive" to shift above 5k on the street.

"I can't imagine any corners (on tracks that I know) where you aren't carrying enough speed to need to drop to 1st."
I know it's not a 'race track', but some of the turns on the 'Dragon' would be too tight and slow for second gear.

Good point.
When turning a corner at even low speed, I would think that second would be more than adequate. I've even inadvertently taken off in second more than once, and acceleration was adequate; not great, but adequate.
