the only thing that can be improved on the car is power!!!!!!! the styling is there, the handling is there and its a sports car not an SUV!!! so get over the storage space!!!
oh maybe throw in a 20,000rpm formula motor! hows that for torque less!!!

For an S2000 replacement? Keep it the way it is, evolve the look but not change it, and more power... I think it's about time for Honda to make an inline six .
But what I think Honda (and all manufacturers for that matter) should make, a rwd coupe, call it a Prelude if they have to (ech) but make me a 2+2 sports coupe with RWD and a decent motor, and not some GT car crap, I'm thinking along the lines of a Silvia. Oh, and price it around 20K... yeah.

Oh yeah, and I know a lot of people will disagree, but a manual soft top, but not like the moronic Solstice one, but the Miata one, the kind that you can do from the cockpit: saves weight, less things to go wrong, and a lot faster.

very interesting thread. the best point made so far, imo was the person who said that the power plus slightly better gearing was already great for the street. you can wind the sucker up, but not break the law too badly. all you guys who wish for more power probably don't know the reality of a high powered car. i drove a z06 on the street, got to 60 in almost 1st gear. SO fast, but not much fun and had i made it to 3rd gear, i'd be in jail.

i think honda should team up with ferrari, make the body wider and flatter. pretty much look like a mini f430 spyder, change the dash to look more i-robot futuristic and keep most everything else the same.

i love this car.

I'll take 20, 000rpm, flappy paddle gearbox and a side of Spoon Hardtop to go please!

Is price a constraint?

If not ... everyone will just put down specs like those of an Enzo

Sup peoplez, I'm an auto design student dying to find out about the S2000 from the owners' perspective. I'm dreaming up the future S2000 and I'm all ears about what YOU think will help improve on the current car, especially the interior and practicality side. Any problems with the current S2K? For example:

1. any major overall problems/inconvienences with your s2000
2. how is the interior space? too cramped? please note your approx. stature
3. your opinion on the storage space/compartments
4. problems with the top
5. problems with enter/exiting car
6. safety/comfort
7. fuel efficiency
Based on your list of questions, I don't think you understand the point of the S2000 very well, and why we own this car. While these things certainly are a factor, it really isn't about interior space, comfort, and the ease of entering/exiting the car.

It's about FUN TO DRIVE for me. Good power, snickety gearshifts, high rpms, open air, quick responses, handling balance, taut suspension, loud noises...

Personally, I'd like the car to weigh 2400 lbs with about 300hp. (8 lbs per hp.)

The interior is fine, no need to change that. (Well, except add some convenient harness mounting points. And an iPod interface. )

Its a great car as is but....

The aero is very poor pretty much like a brick. The bottom should be flat like the TSX. There is no rear diffuser. The windshield is not raked enough and pits easier than any car i've ever owned (just got a F'in rock chip on the way home that makes 2!).

On the inside OMG there are alot of quirks there as well. Crappy stereo. Why even bother with it of they are gonna put in a head unit as shitty as the S2000's? Its got to be the worst stereo in a 30k car. The TL is the right way to do things. The interior parts are pretty cheap. They used painted plastic instead of real aluminum. The glove box fitment is poor and feels cheap. Over all the interior squeaks and rattles waaayy too much. I dont mind a loud sports car but certainly NOT one that rattles. Would it kill them to use more leather?

The exterior looks good but a bit generic from the rear, thats where the diffuser would come in handy. It could use some nice fender flares ala 575 Maranello to enhance the side profile. Maybe a hood scoop to break the tension on the long flat hood. That should aid in cooling the engine. 17's are fine for the car. It doesnt make enough power for big ass bling bling 18"s or 19"s.

All you guys that dont mind the power staying the same are a bit short sighted. No one will buy the car if Turbo Miatas/Sky Redlines etc are faster. Its called a performance car. It should be able to outperform its competition. Look at how great the NSX sold. Every single one of its competitors bumped up the HP game and the NSX was left behind like a bottle of Coke with no Fizz. Numbers do help sells figures. I would hope my S2000 could outrun other roadsters but if they dont upgrade it the only car its gonna be quicker than are bottom barrel roadsters that cost 10k less. That would be sad.

No one is asking for a 505 hp Z06 killer. But at least Honda should give us something that can easily eclipse the Ap1 and Ap2 in all aspects of performance and keep up with its rivals M roadster and Boxster S. Its retarded that the Ap2 isnt any faster than a Ap1. The BMW M3 e46 is much quicker than its older brother. As is the Boxtser S new 911 etc. Why is Honda so f'in lazy when it comes to its sports cars?

I'm not yet an owner of an S yet, hell I just registered 30 seconds ago. The only reason I did was to question all of you whom spent 34k+ on a car and have so many complaints. If you want more torque, buy a 350z. If you want something more practical, buy a BMW. Unless a few of you didn't notice, Honda's 4-cyl aren't known to be torque monsters.
