Default Drive the S2000 on the freeway??

Am I still in the honeymoon stage? I refuse to put the new spa yellow on the freeway. Around here we have:

1. Landscape trucks hauling mulch all over town and having it blow out of the truck
2. Dump trucks full of stones being thrown from the truck
3. Lawn mowing contractors dropping debris all over the freeway
4. Semi's in the fast lane kicking up debris from the median
5. Commercial roofing contractors hauling their little "tar wagon" behind them while tar spews all over cars behind them.

I'm doing a survey here. Who avoids the freeway like the plague?

Not me. I just try to look ahead and stay ahead of any problem vehicles. You MUST go on the freeway after the break-in period to enjoy the VTEC experience. You can't avoid it forever.... Or can you???

I avoid freeways as much as possible, but I also avoid Ohio like the plague too.

My reasoning is that the car just isn't much fun on the freeway, at least at legal speeds. In Northern California there is almost always an alternate route with lots of curves in the road that is much more fun, even if it takes twice as long to get where I'm going. I feel sorry for you guys in the flat lands.

Last year when I drove all over the West, out of 5780 miles, I only drove about 300 on freeways. There were a lot of interesting roads available...

You know what I'm talking about. We drive the same freeways. I am very afraid. Dario, check out my post on the car care forum. I'd be intersted in your opinion on my "shopping list" for car care products.

Remember this,

There's nothing worse than having 9,000 rev's and not using them. 9,000 rev's = music to the ears!

I avoid the freeway--got a beater to go to work. I have to swim through big trucks.

Don't forget the other offenders:

*Hillbillies who leave the bed of their truck open, letting whatever trash they don't want fall out.

(This includes chairs, shovels, dirt, construction materials, etc. I especially hate the shovel, I hit one with my oil pan once and drug it a few miles until I could get out of the lane between concrete barriers)

*Trucks who shed a retread and keep going.

*Flat bed trucks that didn't sweep the piles of dirt and rocks after delivering that backhoe.

*Smokers who toss their lit cigarette out the window and it lands in your car.

*Trucks that are due for an overhaul and spew droplets of oil.

*Campers leaking gray water.

I could go on... (you know this about me, don't you?)

I'm on the freeway daily for part of the commute - I try to be very observant about what's in front & coming up, & avoid following too close for too long. I let the big trucks likely to have rocks on board just cruise on by if that works better. Being a motorcyclist really helps in this regard & helps protect the car, too (not to mention the driver!).

Your description of the Ohio freeways sounds alot like the expressways here in New York. Only here its worse ten fold. I try to avoid parkways that allow commercial/ industrial traffic. Here in NY we have parkways that only allow passenger vehicles. I try to use those. Do they have these types of roads in Ohio?

I wish! No roads for cars only. At least not around where I live. I think it will be impossible to keep off the freeway forever. I can't keep driving the car at 50MPH or less.
