Drive Safe
Just saw the videos.
There had to be at least 100 feet of skid marks before the car went off the road.
How fast does the car have to be going to skid that far, and still have enough momentum to do all that damage.
It also looked like the light post was completely ripped from the sidewalk.
Another sad story.

To the driver and family of the two involved, my condolences go out.
To address the age/performance car thing: Its about personal responsiblity and maturity. Most young people can't handle high performance cars, not to due to an inability to drive or lack of driving experience, but bad decision making while doing so, i.e. racing, running lights, etc.
I'm 20 and my Honda S2000 is my fourth sports car (and one of the slowest I've owned, and I've yet to even have a fender bender in ANYTHING I've driven). All through high school I had friends with very fast Trans Ams, Camaros, Mustangs, even a new-at-the time E46 M3. Most of my friends at the time (and even these days) treat their cars with respect and don't drive like tools - then again, *MOST* of my friends pay for their own cars which makes a huge difference vs mommy and daddy, spouce, etc footing the bill.
Regardless, Im a STRONG believer that driving skill isn't attained or improved on by making a daily commute for 20 years like a lot of people think. There are good drivers (alert, attentative, good reflexes, awareness) and there are bad ones (inattentive, easily distracted, views driving as a chore). Then there are good or medicore drivers that have a bad day. There is one thing they all share in common: No one think they're a bad driver. But I refuse to subscribe to the belief that because someones done something longer, they're better at it than "newbs." You sure don't see any 80 year old race car drivers out there
I'm going to give this guy the benefit of a doubt and say he had a bad day - sadly it cost him.

how the hell they gonna let the dad do the complete report, I know he a cop and he should very well, but cmon. Hulk Hogan son must be pissed that his dad is a champ wrestler instead of a cop, because he would have gotten away too.
Ugh, really sad stuff.
I was a straight A student, but that doesn't mean anything.
I could have easily wound up like these kids but I just had luck on my side.
Now at almost 26 I drive like a grandma and only floor it on some on-ramps.
The wording in the original article is defensive and out of the ordinary, stating "no alcohol", usually it would say investigations are underway or something.
In any case drive safe, especially in our SoCal rain we are having.
