soon all cars will have DBW, EBD, stability control, etc....it's like those people who said they didn't like ABS over a decade ago.....
oh include electronic steering on the list of soon ubiquitous technology

The Si's DBW system is horrible compared to the S2K and NSX systems.

But, VW produces the absolute worse DBW systems I've ever had the displeasure of using.

what do you people not understand???

the 06 drives JUST LIKE the 04-05. there is no telling the difference between the three. the dbw system doesn't "hold" revs nor does it lag. this dbw system is not your typical dbw system you find in the tsx or any of those vw.

I agree with you that there is no lag or delay what so ever. Like the TOV article mentioned, the Civic Si (06) does indeed hold revs on the upshift but like the article said , it really doesn smooth out the shifting.

My only beef with the DBW system, is about the only beef I have with my 06 S2k - When I dip into the throttle when taking off from a light, or when applying power again, after shifting, the damn system applies barely any power at first, and then kicks in. Kind of like some of the other "on-off" comments I often here about DBW. It lacks the lineararity of a cable system. Can any 06 owners corroborate this, or is it all in my head?

When I decided to go from an 04 to an 06, I drove the 06 paying special attention to the potential for lag/lack of responsiveness. It just wasn't there, so I traded the 04 in the 06. I've been very happy with the way it handles.

I've never noticed that effect unless the engine is operating a very low RPM. The only delay I've noticed would be when using the clutch. Even then it's not a bad thing in day to day driving. Might smooth out the shift a bit. It might lack the linearity, but it is still very easy to modulate small throttle changes.

Excatly. It happens when I'm taking off from a stoplight at low rpms (under 2k rpm). The thing is, I try not to rev up to 2k or so and slip the clutch when starting out, instead prefeering to just take off smoothly from idle. This is when this "symptom" occurs. And again, liek you said, it occurs in tandem with clutch use (such as when I'm shifting).

Like you said, this is not necessarily a bad thing, and it does smooth any abrupt inputs. Once I'm up and going, response is A+ and I've no problem with blipping the throttle on a hell n' toe downshift

ok well im coming from an 06 si that as we all know has dbw. to an 06 s2k. ill compare the two. the si is by far the worst dbw system i have ever driven. not only does it hold revs for 2 secs. literally 2 secs before it would drop off. but it also had the worst lag of man kind you could lift your foot off the gas and have a 1 to 2 sec delay before the butterfly closes. the s2k is perfect nothing else to say about it but perfect. no lag no rev holding, nothing.

after reading this post, i asked my friend to let me drive his si. now i know what, "holding the rev" feels like. the 2006 s2k doesn't hold any revs. the 2006 tsx also "holds the rev".

Did you own the red Si that was sold to Autoway Honda for an 06 S2k? If so, I drove your car, ricey exhaust and all
