driver side window
the thing is, an alarm woulda done jack. the only things they took were things that could be grabbed within 15 seconds of the window being broken, alarm or not: radar detector, cds, radio faceplate. i might as well have had the top down, woulda saved me some hassle. an alarm would just have let me know sooner. but honestly, a car alarm will NOT wake me up from my sleep and get me outside in less than 30 seconds. and if they were professionals, well, Nicholas Cage schooled us all on that one.
on a better note, i'm taking the opportunity to get all the needed and overdue service done. what can i say, i'm lazy

Yeah, I know an alarm wont stop theives from getting the stuff inside the car... I would like one just as a deterrent... Right now, I have NOTHING... not even a red flashing light, all though I know radio shack and a few bucks can fix that
I park in a well populated place when I take the car to school (a city street right in front of the heart of the campus)... so its not a question of it not being noticed if someone were breaking into it. I'd like to think that some noise would keep the person away from wanting to look further...
I dont keep anything visible inside the car. The fuzzbuster and CDs are all inside the locked center console... I know its not theft proof, but I'd like to think that with people walking on the sidewalk just inches from the car, someone isnt gonna just smash the window and pry the console open while the alarm is going off... Put simply, nothing in my car is easy to get at...
besides, not many people know about that secret compartment
j/k
I do like Chris' suggestion about not locking the car... atleast that way, they can look inside without damaging anything. Of course, with my luck, they'd put the car in N and let the parking brake go...
I pretty much figure that if I leave nothing for the theif to want, it might deter them...
But some people just like to do it just to do it... vandalism...

i'm just gonna chalk it up to car owner experience, eat the cost of the stolen cds and not worry about it. my new V1 will be bolted to the car. permanently attached things are covered under my policy, non-attached things are not. of course the V1 is the same cost as the deductible....
Sorry to hear that man, kinds puts the rock to my windshield in perspective, but I gotta feel for you guys that don't have a garage man.... I don't think I could sleep at night with the car outside like that, especially a convertable.
Hmmm I wonder if they make an alarm with electric shock if someone tried to break in?
Like those stun guns.... I'd buy that alarm...
Visc. you need to at least park your S in the carport man... Plus with all that "stuff" your going to be getting soon, its going to a jackers dream.

Is there a pattern of prematuer window failure, a known fix, and you were not notified?
I am still trying to figure out some sort of pattern to the auto feature which seems to have a mind of its own. I have seen numerous posts on a this problem which should be known to honda techs. Perhaps you might consider making a claim against honda for the stolen items that could not be easily taken out of the car. What were the circumstances of the failure? Where, when, weather and what did you or could you do to try and safeguard the stolen items?

Seems that kids get a thrill out of ruining personal property. Since I got my car, I have been parking my 99 Prelude outside until I can sell it. Two days after getting the S, some kids drove down our street and egged a bunch of cars, including my Prelude. It put a hole in the paint. The thing didnt have as much as a nick in the paint until then. Cost me $600 to get the fender repainted. I decided to park it in the garage and leave my SUV outside. Well it happened two more times, but fortunately I caught it before it ate the paint away.
Then, last week, we were watching my sister's dog, a BIG dog and we didnt want to let it sleep in the house, so I put it in a kennel in the garage, thus out goes the Prelude again. That very night, it happened AGAIN! This time on a different fender!!! Another $600!!!
That morning I went online and ordered TWO night survellience camera's. The next time these punks come by here, I will get there plates. A quick call to my buddy who is a cop, and I will have his address. Man is he going to SH!T his pants when I show up at his door with a video and talk with his parents about how he has egged about 10 cars, doing about $800-$1000 damage to each one!!! Man I CAN'T WAIT!!!

On leaving a convertible unlocked to eliminate break-in damage, my college roommate had his '65 Mustang convertible top cut on the passenger's side to steal him FM converter (I guess that tips you off that the '65 was almost new
) while the driver's door was unlocked.
The lesson is, anyone stupid enough to want to break into a car for something as inexpensive as a CD is too stupid to think rationally.

SIME-Visceral - I know that the car is photoshopped , but what wheels are they and what size?
Sime, the car is actually as it appears. The background was from my visit to germany photoshopped of course! My wheels are mf-10s powdercoated.
