The Kevlar lined cop gloves are usually standard issue to personnel working in law enforcement agencies. Here in Calgary we have a 911 supply shop that sells such items. While I never had to purchase my own pair (issued to me), I think they retail at about $80 CAD. Xviper?

I use a pair of genuine Harley Davidson fingerless bikie gloves. Though they cost quite a bit compared to brandless motorcycle gloves but I'm happy to pay that extra, good insulation and great comfort. Doesn't have a sweat problem as well, just smells like great suede all time long.

I used to buy my gloves at the following when I was a cop - now I still use them for driving and when I do work as a P.I.

not too expensive and AWESOME quality - you can pick up a dime with them!

Steve2K's response reminded me of another option. Mechanics gloves. These are very form fitting and you can also pick up small objects with them - tremendous tactile transference. I love using these for working on the car but a new pair would also be very good for driving. Comes in neat colors and happen to be resistant to auto fluids. These, too, are available @ MOPAC.
