I personally take most all the above advice, and also top it off with some RAINX or AccuVision on the windows and mirrors to aid in visibility!

What did I do to improve driving in wet conditions??? I bought Potenza SO3's

I got caught in a rainstorm and they handled superbly; I will never buy another set of tires except for these as long as they are made.

Seriously about the open parking lot though, It is a good idea to take it out and just see what it can/will do. And good practice on how to counter a situation that could and possibly will happen that way if it does happen on the roads, you will be some what comfortable and you will know exactly what to do in the event...
This is by far the most important thing. It's hard to prepare for something you have never experienced.
Remember hind sight is 20 20 and in this case can be the difference between a leisurely drive and a guard rail.

Thanks for your comments, guys, helped me a lot! Coming from a Prelude and similar FWD vehicles, I was feeling a little depressed after driving the S in the rain and through some corners as I am not able to drive as fast around curves as I was
able to before ... as I do not feel comfortable to do so ... seems like the rear may slide out. I am going to enroll in a driving class or go to the local auto-x as soon as I have some time ... until then, I am going to drive like a (cool) granny.

The empty parking lot is a good idea too as an interim test of the handling limits. Maybe, some of us S owners should get together and do a driving class. I am
willing to travel a little bit for that. Like a driving class S meet.

I don't get the real panic .. living in the uk i have driven quite a bit in the rain.. and even provoked the back on a large roundabout on purpose a few times.. and its not as bad as people make out.. However its just when you aren't expecting it is when it gets you. I have even gone round a roundabout in the rain ..slowly incresing speed to see if the back just goes.. and I was impressed with the grip from teh s02's

Also i know what it mean about the back end.. when i start turning after a certain amount the back seems to move a little and then settle again.. It just seems to wiggle and sort its selfout a bit.. Now i suspect this may be due to the fact your ass is now right over the backwheels.. where are before the back wheels were ages back from your sitting postion.

and yes.. s02(correct ones) in the dry with fully laser setup spec alignment and correct pressures.

The parking lot stuff is fine, but dude, do yourself a favor and do about 4 - 5 autocrosses - and if possible a High Performance Driving Ed (HPDE) weekend (more $$, more risk to car, not all tracks allow Convertible w/o roll-bar - you're near the Glen no? think they have issues...).

The reason for 4 - 5 autocrosses is because your first is usually an exercise in navigation and figuring out what the heck is going on.

I ain't no superstar - and I vtec in the rain. It WILL get the back moving but it's doable - however I've got quite a few ax's under my belt (quite a few) which teaches throttle control. I'm certainly not advising to go above 5500 RPM in the rain - It's good advice to restrain from that - but you wanna get an slight understanding for driving pre down force Grand prix cars... . Actually I love rain driving in this car because it brings the limits down and you can have some fun at safer speeds - but parkway trips - with other traffic doing 80 that gets interesting!

You have an excellent attitude to be honest. You respect the car and that should keep it in one peace. Despite having autocrossed my other car for 4-5 years prior to getting the S (the other car also being a rear drive car with pretty decent performance), I still waited for my first autocross, a week after taking delivery, to push the car after reading here about how 'tricky' it was.
