Driving the S2K in the snow?
If I were to get an S2K should I count on getting a winter car for the snowstorms we get here in Cleveland?
I've owned an RX-7 and a Supra (both turbo) in the past and have driven them in the snow with little problem... but I think the S sits lower than those two and is most definitely lighter, plus it's a convertible... though a hardtop would solve that...

An S2000 can be driven in the snow. In New England it seems like even though we get a fair amount of snow people go into a snow panic every time they see the stuff. I've driven a miata in the snow regularly as well as a highly modified and lowered MR2 turbo. Of course they are more difficult to drive, but definitely not incapable. I've met so many people who claim that their 4wd is necessary in new england because of the snow. The reality of the situation is, out of the 5 or so days each winter I actually drive in the stuff, it's not all that bad. Just follow the same rules as you would in any car and err on the side of caution.

The next question is: Do you want to do it?
Cleveland roads suck. Potholes galore in wintertime.
And people have this habit of sideswiping cars in the wintertime due to crappy driving.
I have winter tires for my S2000, drives fine in the winter.
But I have more fun destroying mounds of snow with the truck beater.
If you have the cash, truck beater all the way!
I drove through my first winter. Definitely get good, no, better snow tires. Blizzaks were my choice. I tried to avoid the worst storms, using vacation days. I did get caught in one bad storm. Rain turned to snow quickly and got pressed down to ice while more snow fell. Front wheel drive cars and regular trucks were fishtailing. I took it nice and easy, no sharp, sudden moves and got home in only slightly more time than normal. I have to stop to take a left turn up a moderately steep hill. This presented no problem, no hesitation, no fistailing, just a steady roll up the hill, getting to third or fourth where I'd normally be up to easily getting out of fifth into sixth.

Handles very well in snow with snow tires from personal experience.

and with a little added weight in the trunk you'll do just fine I'd did itand was pretty surprised as to how well it handled , as good if not better then
my FWD beater I now have. You may want to consider a hardtop also .
