Driving in VTEC
Z isn't dull.
That's for sure.
After driving my friend's Z..
Tanabe 7 coilovers + Nismo 1.5way + plenum spacer, I was shocked at how slow the S felt.
BUT, I still went with the S.
Just because I liked the car better.
Anyhow.. I also have coilovers waiting for the S, but I just don't know what I'm gonna do about the power until my warranty expires...
BTW.
a S2000's CLUTCH PEDAL IS DULL.
That's for sure.

lol.
Don't get me wrong, I love my S.
I hate the lack of power on it.
I've driven both cars and I picked the S for a reason.
I'm guessing you're referring to the vtec "kick" being exciting.
Vtec got old, real quick lol.
I need boost.

The S2000 has almost as much thrust as a Viper, so when an S2000 "lacks torque" it is purely because the driver doesn't know how to extract the car's power (or because the driver is so jaded that his brain has rotted). When my car was stock, it reached VTEC from a standstill in less than 2 seconds, and if that isn't quick enough for you, boost won't help. Get a Z or some other car with a lazy torque curve and you'll be much happier.
ROFL.
OKKKKKKKKK.
Standstill to vtec in 2 seconds!
Obviously 1st gear. YAY, tops out at 30 or so mph.
lol, you've got to be shittin me.
the S is not fast.
Admit it.
I admit it and I'm an owner.
It is NOT fast.
It may be nimble and quick around corners and such, but it is NOT fast.
I suppose 'fast' is a relative word. Obviously, you've not felt 'faster' cars than a S? lol.
LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please tell me you did not mean that, LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!
But yeah..
says the guy who's boosted....
No hard feelings

I sometimes track my car for 45mins to an hour at a time. It's in VTEC about 99.9% of that. VTEC itself is not going to hurt the engine. It's the high revs or abuse that will ultimately wear it out. But the motor was meant to be driven in a high RPM spirited fashion. If you make an engine that has the ability to rev to 9k, but can't withstand it, the warranty department will take it in the ass. That might work in Mazda world, but it rarely happens in Honda world.
You may need valve adjustments more often because of long sustained VTEC useage since the valvetrain is definately working harder.

We all know the S is not fast, but the fact that a car with 240hp can sometimes beat a car with 300+hp is something to consider. The S and the Z are 2 completely different cars. The Z has torque, which you will feel as soon as you hit the gas pedal, which makes it feel faster. The S can rev alot higher thus multiplying the tq. The S is slow in low rpms, where the Z is fast, but in the high rpms (which are where you are when your racing 99% of the time) is where the s2k shines. In the city or daily driving the Z will feel alot faster.
My friend has a Z. I cant keep up with him when were cruising around since I always have to downshift as to where all he has to do is mash the gas pedal (lots of skill there). We raced from a dig and roll and ive pulled on him by at least a car each time.

Please go learn simple automotive physics before you come blabbering your mouth again.
HP = TQxRPM/5252
TQ = 5252xHP/RPM
Now.. you want to tell me that increase in RPM increases your torque?
lol, way to prove that you're a dumbass.
BTW, S has 240 at the crank, after drivetrain losses, it has a net of ~200 to the wheels.
Z has 306 @ the crank and ~250 to the wheels.
Obviously, if you don't know what you're doing with the Z, you're going to lose to even a civic.
Honestly.. S is just a handling monster, thats it. At least in stock form.
And.. so, how many times have you taken your car to the track to have your S "shine"?
You obviously haven't driven a Z to its limits.
Anddd.. I'm gonna go swap my flywheel for an AP1 unit soon.
My clutch is starting to go, anyways.
