I occasionally track my S. Four or five 20 minute sessions in vtec as much as possible and no issues whatsoever, just maintain your car.

Oh, and just being above 6k doesn't keep you in vtec. You have to be accelerating. So to say you drive around all day in vtec is wrong, unless you drive on the Autobahn and slam on the brakes every time you hit top speed and then accelerate again lol.

engine braking would be worse as it stresses the tranny/clutch/etc every time you pull the revs up

Driving in VTEC is fine, although I personally wouldn't drive around in VTEC all day long on the freeway. Here is a pic to help explain VTEC:

WOW. That's pretty cool.

Car feels like ass when it's not in vtec.

100% dead serious.

If the handling didn't make up for the lack of power/tq, I wouldn't have bought this car, lol.
I'm actually having second thoughts on getting a Z, LOL!

Based on your comments I have to think you'd be happier with the Z.
The S2000 simply isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Its so much easier to drive a Z fast. But the power is dull and boring

lol.
Don't get me wrong, I love my S.
I hate the lack of power on it.

I've driven both cars and I picked the S for a reason.

I'm guessing you're referring to the vtec "kick" being exciting.

Vtec got old, real quick lol.
I need boost.

I wouldn't say that a Z is dull; The Z is fun and can be exciting to drive. The S2000 is simply hyper, so the Z seems dull in comparison (that is, IF one likes inertia cars).
