Cold, definitely! Since it's gotten colder I've nearly lost it in corners I'm normally just fine with. My personal feeling is that Honda did great with the tires. The down side to having so much control in warm weather is that when things get cold the changes in traction characteristics are very noticeable. When the weather changes, you have to modify your driving habits in any powerful car.

... and the best way to decrease the chances is a drivers school ...

After my very first drivers school I must admit I slowed down a lot on the street. I realized after one school how I had really been pushing my luck for a while and needed to develop some safety skills.

For the most part I believe all accidents are driver's error, there is the above exception, mechanical failure, and I would like to add another exception - bambi. The problem in my part of the country is out of control. A 6 mile section of road I travel every day to and from work has on the average 3 new deer carcasses on the side of the road each week, and that is not just during the fall, it is all the time. They may be beautiful but for many of us they just happen to be the largest rodents going.

Slow down and be careful. Take the high-speed stuff to someplace where everybody is driving in the same direction and there are corner workers who can help you see beyond the curve or over the hill!

I agree that it's almost purely driver error. Cold weather/tires are a poor excuse, since environmental/mechanical conditions should be a factor in how hard you drive.

I just replaced my rears and am surprised at how much better they stick. The deterioration was gradual, but my driving slowed over time to accomodate the decreasing traction from the rear tires.

jschmidt, I LOVE the OEM tires, and wouldn't consider anything else to replace them!

Well, the cold weather excuse might work for some of you but not here in So Cal. It never gets cold enough that the tires are affected that badly. I think most of the accidents have been driver error. People are just going too fast and pushing the limits that they can drive the car at.

Let's not put too much blame on the SO2S. The stickiness of all very high performance tires worsens as the ambient temperature falls, and it's only a matter of degree from brand to brand. My Dunlop SP9000s have degraded noticeably as temps have fallen here in Maryland. It's up to the driver to be aware and to compensate.

i wrecked mine when i hit standing water at highway speed. It was a real mess. I am more careful now when the roads are even a little wet. I do not blame the car or the tires, maybe if i were better equipped to save the car from spinning out, none of this would have happened. I still drive like a maniac all the time though.

She's quite the crazy car, these days. They resprayed her and that yellow looks awesome... I much prefer it to the Spa Yellow...it's got green in it and looks terrific.

Let's see, what has he done lately....

Removed passenger airbag, put in its place an Apex Integration V-AFC, which lowers and raises back into the dash with a switch near the lights on the a-pillar. Quite cool...

Still running the NOS and Comptech s/c. I think he mentioned something about running another pulley for a few more pounds of boost...

Just put on the Mugen rear clip and Mugen wing. Had the HKS mandrel bent to conform to the rear clip...everything lines up beautifully.

Had the trunk fully laid with fiberglass with the nitrous bottle in the well of the trunk. Subwoofer on the right side, more stereo crap on the left side. The fiberglass is painted the same as the body is.

Hmmm...

I was over there a couple of weeks ago and took some shots. I'll post some pics soon...

He didn't race it this year, but his best time, I believe, is a 13.1.

What else...

He's got some super secret plan that he won't tell anyone that will in fact, <fingers crossed> continue to make his be the fastestin the country. (Need timeslips, folks).

Crazy...!
